About Rafa's draw

Rafa has had shitty opponents while Nando has disposed of AO 'favorite' Murray and the Tsongnator. Do you think that will cost Rafa or do you think Nando will be tired?

Re: About Rafa's draw

It will be in favor of Mugdull because his opponents are awful or were tired. Verdasco's draw was much harder but I am questioning his ability to win because Murray caught the flu right before the match against Melzer and Tsonga has been injured since the beginning of the Open, and yet he was still unable to beat both of them in straight sets.

Re: About Rafa's draw

That's the benefit of being at the Top, you can't play against the best opponents until QF or SF Nadal was lucky with first two round jokes though. Rochus and Karanusic are completely useless on this level, Rochus especially against players like Rafa, at least he was in the last 16 in 2000 in contrary to Karanusic

Ranking isn't everything because a player can be high ranked with a lot of luck. Berdych is an underrated player who would have knocked out any of other top eight seeds had he been in a different portion of the draw.

Mugdull's whole draw was a joke. Rochus, Karanusic, Hass, a tired Gonzalez, and Simon are not that hard to beat.

Re: About Rafa's draw

Haas, Gonzalez and Simon at least are players with good results in important tournaments. But I'm sick of matches Nadal vs. Rochus/Karanusic. I didn't even watch it, it's a waste of time if you're not a Nadal fan

Ohohoooo, someone is covering his bases....

It so happens that the #1 seed tends to have an easier draw than the # 14 seed. This is why there are seeding lists.

Maybe Roger Federer has a comment on this one, or two.

Re: About Rafa's draw

Rafas draw was not easy to begin with but just opened up for him. He hasnt faced any power player yet which is kind of strange at this stage in a grand slam. This is his chanse I would say, but then I said the same in USOPEN when he was beaten by Youzhny 2006 and in AO 2008 when Tsonga just beat the crap out of him.

Re: About Rafa's draw

A round robin system would guarantee fairer draws in my eyes, though I know it is not easy to realize and maybe not very attractive during the group qualification.

But it could compensate bad luck and once the group is completed there would be highly competitive matches with all the in-form players.
