Re: AO R2: Gasquet d. Istomin 6-3 6-4 6-4

Gasquet's FH was HORRIBLE again (even more so than usual which is not a small feet).
The rest of his game was better though comparing to his first round.

Good win and this time with pretty good tennis. Only the first few games were already better than the whole mathc against Junquiera. But now the tournaments really starts. But Gonzo is doable imo.

I only saw the first 10 games or so but Gasquet was not looking sharp to me. Should be interesting against Gonzo (presumably).

Re: AO R2: Gasquet d. Istomin 6-3 6-4 6-4

Watched it all the way. Apart from an absolutely disgusting FH, which was mostly landing before (!!!) the service line , the rest of Gasquet's game was pretty OK. Still don't understand why Istomin played so much on Gasquet's BH. Why not to exploit his FH more? The more skilled players will do that, and then Gasquet might find himself in big trouble.

The BH was a work of art as usually though.

Well...you know what they say about people who have small feet...

Good job, Richard.

What is the most disgusting is that he couldn't even correctly hit a FH on short balls.

But i never thought it would even get worse year by year.
I mean, two or three years ago,it was still his weakness but it was a much more decent shot than it is now.
I have for example his match against Federer in Halle in 2006 still in my HD and his FH was decent if not good back then(including the FH in transition play).
Now it completely sucks.

What an ugly forehand, reminds me of watching Glenn McGrath bat for Australia....
