Iquique challenger QF: Gaudio gets injured, retires after 6 points played

While all attentions are foccused on the AO Gaudio made a successful comeback at this Chilean challenger. The match was suspended yesterday by lack of naturak light with 6-0 4-5 and Gaudio serving. Today he was broken to lose the set but stayed foccused and won the 3rd, which is a good sign considering it's Gaudio we are talking about.

It's not possible to make any anylisis only after this match, but him winning is the best thing that could have happened to him at his comeback.

Vamos Gastón

Let's hope Gaudio can keep this up. What a fantastic backhand he had in his day..

Muy bien Gato.

A very positive start...hopefully he can back this win up, but, above all, stay injury-free.

Never going to happen. But it would be nice to see Gaudio making it into top 100 and playing proper tournaments again. One of the best backhands ever!

Siiiii, di Mauro is a quality player to face and defeat right off the bat.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Vamos Gastón
Great news! He´s been training all out and now he needs a few wins to boost his confidence and prove it was worth it!
Unfortunately he´s now up against the "Gato II", Hartfield, who´s a great admirer and also a friend, and we know how difficult it is for Gastón to play against friends...
I hope he can put that aside and go on to win this challenger!

Very nice for starters. Every win for him must be a big confidence boost now.

I'd also like to point out Zabaleta also won his comeback match in the same challenger.

Podemos!
