AO R1: Federer def. Seppi 6-1, 7-6(4), 7-5

JesusFed in first set, Seppi stepped it up afterwards and Federer went too passive, glad he got it done in straights though.

Federer stats:
1st serve%: 59%
aces: 9
DF: 5
W/UE: 45/43
break points won: 3/10
net points won: 31/43
total points: 122

Seppi stats:
1st serve%: 60%
aces: 1
DF: 5
W/UE: 28/45
break points won: 0/10
net points won: 15/22
total points: 102

With the exception of the first set, in which Federer was sublime, Seppi was the better player. Horrible BP conversion cost him. Federer was a bit fortunate tonight.

fed 59% first serve and 5 DF, not so good, no? 3/10 BP and 45/43 W/UEs also not so good, no?
He will have to step it up.

6-3 6-0 warm regards

Well well, after that first set it was a MUCH closer battle than anyone expected. Great fight from Seppi, but the winner was never in doubt here, Federer was just so clutch at big moments, and Seppi was awful, suddenly couldn't get a ball in on break points Pretty quality stuff from Fed overall, and might I add, he looks mighty fine in his outfit this year

15.

Seppi's FH on BPs

Couldn't see the first set but Seppi had plenty of luck in the second with 3 incredibly lucky netcords on BPs/deuce

First set was brilliant.

Then the first serve died. Followed by very short forehand balls. It's just strange how he falls off between two sets and 5 minutes.

Unbelievable pathetic from Seppi on big points. Federer tried everything and gifted him a million chances to break him and to give him a set and Andreas simply refuses them all. On all the BPs his legs were made of stone and he was losing his footwork totally (especially on FH) which resulted in every ball ending up low in the net. Federer- not convincing at all but he will be better in next rounds.

FORZA Seppi!

Good performance, taking Federror to tiebreak and almost winning a set.
Some great rallies

Winning a BP from time to time wouldn't be bad, however.
