Im specifically referring to the top 4 here, although outside of the top 4 it's not like it's boring at all. Murray is knocking hard on the door to make it the big four, but of course he'd have to win a slam to claim that honour. But even if he doesn't win a slam he could still break into the top 3. This creates a very interesting scenario because that means the end of the top 3, at least in the rankings anyway. Who do you think will be the first to be displaced if anyone?
There is some distance between the top 3 and Murray right now but it seems like it's only a question of time before the gap is closed. But then again the top 3 is seriously good players so there is not even a guarantee that Murray will break into the top 3. I think most people would pick Nole to be displaced, but just a few days ago he had a chance to be nr.2, and he's still a very talented player. I think things will just get tighter and tighter at the top.
That is why the AO is such a HUGE tournament for the top 4 right now. It will set the tone for the coming year and whoever comes out on top will have given themselves a significent boost. Of course it would be ideal for Murray to win, but if Roger wins that would put him and Rafa even further out of reach of the rest. So there is everything to play for.
