Tight match, but not of great quality IMO
The first set and a half David was great and Jarkko played like he usually plays against the top... He looked lost, didn't know what to do on the court. He probably wasn't sure of his gameplan. Then he usually starts slugging it out with the top, but that won't work either since that isn't his game. He goes for wild winners, makes UEs, gets depressed and down on himself and loses. During this match he said stuff in Finnish like "I'm playing like sh1t!" etc.
But then he saves BPs at 2*-4, throws in a good service game to hold for 4-5, and Nalby gets tight, Jarkko breaks and suddenly it's a whole different ballgame. Jarkko is playing his game, mixing it up and David's game is falling apart.
Jarkko had I think 3 SPs at 6-5* Nalby serving, many in the tiebreak which was tight but not of great quality
. Great for Jarkko to win the TB, but then Nalby put his foot on the gas and started playing a bit better, Jarkko choked a few points and it was over.
All in all I'm very happy for Jarkko that he was able to make this a match and he can take a lot of positives here. Hope they're both fully fit for AO.
