Cilic beats Devvarman 6-4 7-6

Good game, but Cilic just scrapped it in the 2nd after what looked like a massive choke was coming. Devvarman had chances, 1/10 bps taken, but this guy reminds me of andy murray a couple of years ago under gilbert, passive play waiting for errors, and hitting an odd winner there and then.

Match stats
Winners UE's
Cilic 36 29
Devvarman 12 25

Re: Cilic beats Devvarman 6-4 7-6

but a final was much more than expected and he beat Karlovic and Moya so that's a plus

Re: Cilic beats Devvarman 6-4 7-6

Somdev fought very hard, but as Byrd said he didn't convert enough of the BP chances, at the same time Cilic did produce the big serves on these points.

It was one of those matches, even with the choke, that Cilic always seemed to have in control, though the forehand was going a bit off at the end of the 2nd set.

Excellent week for Somdev and big rankings jump for him, plus Cilic should be close to top 20 now.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Awesome week for Somdev. Definitely made the most of his draw.

Cilic is going to be dangeorus this year, I think.

Re: Cilic beats Devvarman 6-4 7-6

well done Marin
didn't play his best, but great TB. except 4th round at AO he has nothing to defend in first part of the season. nice chance to take a top 10 spot.

Re: Cilic beats Devvarman 6-4 7-6

both were very insecure, making alot of errors.

final is a good result for devvarman, and it's best in the end that cilic didn't fold under pressure.

wonder how far can they both go this year.

This presentation went on longer than most WTA matches.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Cilic beats Devvarman 6-4 7-6

Either way good start to both guys
Somdev- make a little money and hire a coach that will add to your plus'
Cilic was able to develop over the last 2-3
years by doing just that and working his a$$ off.

The great thing about democracy is that it gives every voter a chance to do something stupid.
