Federer is not dominant on Hardcourts anymore

Since his 2007 Dubai win when he was north of 8000 ranking points and at the absolute peak of his career:

These are his losses on hardcourts:

2007 IW - Canas
2007 Miami - Canas
2007 Montreal - Djokovic
2007 Madrid - Nalbandian
2007 Paris - Nalbandian
2008 Dubai - Murray
2008 IW - Fish
2008 Miami - Roddick
2008 Toronto - Simon
2008 Cincy - Karlovic
2008 Olympics - Blake
2008 Madrid - Murray
2008 TMC - Simon, Murray

These are the titles:

2007 Cincy, USO, Basel, TMC
2008 USO, Basel

No on in early 2007 could imagine he would suddenly be so vulnerable on his best surface, losing 14 times out of 20 events.

His legend was created from 2003 Vienna-2007 Dubai

He won 29 hardcourt events and only lost 8 times.

So from that peak of 29-8 in 37 events, he's gone 6-14 in his last 20 hardcourt events.

I am surprised you haven't changed your name to Bandwagoner_2009. What has taken you so long?

Fed and fan don't go together in your case. All you do is bl00dy bash him and talk about how Nadal, Djokovic and co are so much better. Oh wait. Wasn't it Federer that made it through to the Semi's today? Djokovic loses in the first round and Nadal, well we all saw what happened

Actually I totally hate Nadal and couldn't care less about Djokovic. What is wrong with pointing out what happened to Roger on hardcourts since 2007 Dubai? Heck, even at his absolute peak run(2003-2007), he only won 29/38 hardcourt events which doesn't measure up with Nadal's win rate on clay(2005-2008).

It just getting repetitive. Everything you say is something negative about Federer. When was the last time you actually just sat and appreciated his sensational tennis? 2007? Thought so.

If this thread had been written by some other person I would discuss the facts etc and take this seriously but because you have turned into a 24/7 basher I won't bother. What does Federer have to do to? He is 27 for heaven's sake-- a lot of younger kids are catching up and have more energy. What the hell do you want him to do? Win every single match? Win all the tourny's? Win all the Slams? It is not possible, Federer has lost that dominance so just sit and appreciate that he tries his hardest and that you lived to see this GOAT play tennis.

Oh and go look up loyalty in the dictionary. It might help.

Hey I'm loyal, look at my siggy. I'm just pointing out that Federer lost that "aura of invinciblity" a long time ago. Because many bash him for that. He hasn't had the aura since losing to Canas 2x in March 2007.

To be fair that dominance might have gone (we are yet to see the full 2009 season) but the invincibility is still there. I can't even count the number of threads that have been made about Federer "losing dominance" and "is not capable of winning slams" etc...it just getting tiresome. Its just that your expectations are way too extreme. No one has won all the matches they've entered for and no one has won all the slams every year. That record is very good in my opinion and the use of "only" in your paragraph just goes on to highlight the fact that you want complete perfection. And btw its a lot easier to dominate clay than hard court. Everyone knows how to play hard court-- they used these courts since infancy until their pro career. But with clay its totally different- you have to be a specialist to be dominant. I hope you realise that fact.

There is no thing such as "hardcourt specialist"-- every player knows how to play on that surface and play well. So Federer has done extremely well to be the Hard court dominance over the last few years.

With clay you get talented people like Murray totally flopping.

Re: Federer is not dominant on Hardcourts anymore

From a psychological point of view, FedFan needs to post threads like this about Federer's loss of form, as it still hasn't beckoned on him how bad his idol has become , in which reminding himself 24/7 seems to do the job, real sad to be honest
