Murray def. Stakhovsky 6-4 6-2

Nice first set, Stakhovsky imploded in the second. Murray lost his serve when serving for the match at 5-0, seemed like he had lost interest a little bit and was thinking about the next match already.

I've never seen Stakhovsky play before this, obviously I've heard of him though. I really liked his game, he was talented from the back of the court, had firepower in both baseline shots, nice touch, nice volleys and most importantly smart game. Consistency was/is his biggest problem, along with the second serve IMO.

After Nadal beat Monfils at Doha, before AO 2014

Only Del Potro can take him out before the semis, and he won't. Nadal is winning the AO, bet your house on it.
Somewhere out there, there is a homeless person who once took betting advice from GSMnadal

Saw a bit of friction on court, do these guys have some kind of history?

Good summary. Stakhovsky was very impressive in patches. Murray seemed to appreciate the effort and raised his game compared to the earlier rounds.

Yeah Murray beat him for the US Open Juniors title in 04 and there was a bit of a bad tempered DC match in Odessa a couple of years ago that Murray also won.

Murray did enough, a bit lazy at the end there, I wish he'd put the hammer down at 5-0, not go to sleep sometimes :retard:

But still...job done. Federer next. Should be good. Will need to play better.

Re: Murray def. Stakhovsky 6-4 6-2

Murray was cheering for every fault Stakhovsky made towards the end of the 1st set. Even his double fault. That's really low...

I don't get why that bothers people. A point is a point. A winner is no more valuable than a double fault.

Re: Murray def. Stakhovsky 6-4 6-2

that comment was way below your regular level, clydey. of course you know that cheering for an opponents' df is nothing but unsportsmanlike, be it for the crowds or - especially - for a player.

i don't know if murray's actually guilty here as i haven't seen it but if he is, shame on him. he's a top player now, so he should act that way and throw the kiddie stuff over board.
