Hopman Cup: Blake def. Kiefer 7-6(3) 6-7(7) 6-4

Good match overall, 2 hours 30 minutes, Kiefer was better in aces 20-16
Only one break of serve in the entire match - in the first game of the final set at 13th (!) break point for Blake. Kiefer saved two match points in the 2nd set - at 4:5 with beautiful drop-volley and at 6:7 in the TB with an ace.

Especially amazing service performance. In the first set Blake had 70% of 1st serve in while usually has a little bit above 50%.
Kiefer had just 2 BP's, Blake 15.

Hurray, a win for James.

"What kind of shape am I in now? Well round is a shape." said Roddick with a laugh. "I had a very detailed retirement plan, and I feel like I've met every aspect of it: a lot of golf, a lot of carbs, a lot of fried food, and some booze, occasionally — I've been completely committed ... The results have shown."

I think Kiefer would have won had he wore his Jersey, or threw his racquet across the net at Blake on a crucial point then denied it. Truth be told Kiwi hasn't been the same since he got robbed at gun point way back when...

Congrats, Blake. Sounds like a hell of a match. Better lose such close one's now than later at the Aussie Open.
Oh well, at least good job saving those mp's.

Yeah, first was a crazy one, after exchange of decent baseline strokes, Kiefer played aggressive forehand down the line and went to the net, Blake replied with backhand slice onto Kiefer's backhand side but the German changed position and from the backhand side finished the point with gentle forehand volley on reverse cross, and hit the line. What a talent

It sounds like it was an exciting match - I wish I could've seen it.

No way! His first serve % usually sucks. Hopefully, the work he said he's done on his serve during the off-season pays off this year in matches that really matter.
