Best forehand: Roger or Pete?

I would like to know who do you think has the best forehand of Pete and Roger. Both must be right there at the top when we talk about the greatest forehands of all time. They are quite different though. Roger's forehand has more spin then Pete's and therefor is more effective on clay. Pete's forehand is maybe more effective on the faster surfaces because he hits it so flat. Pete also had a bullet of a forehand crosscourt on the run, that was definitely a signature shot for him. With Roger it's harder to know which is his favorite forehand shot but one i can think of is his inside out forehand. This is of course all just my opinion so i'd like to know what you think also.

Edberg and we already have a forehand thread.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

federer has the best forehand, backhand and serve ever. he is also the undisputed GOAT, the best on grass, clay and hard, plus he owns nadal and sampras and everyone else. are you finally happy now?

Federer can turn rösti into solid potatoes.

Explosive but flat, useless on clay. Do you need any proof?

Because of the topspin Federer can find better angles than Pete, so for me i prefer Federer's forehand.

A service notice for Pete..

Its true Roger does have a more complete forehand. Im really surprised to see Roger so far ahead in the voting at this point.

Re: Best forehand: Roger or Pete?

Sampras did have that point-ending running forehand. Made even Agassi pay for going into the open court. Every time. I have a feeling that Federer would've wanted that shot this year at Wimbledon.

But other than that, Feds' is the most versatile weapon. Punishing on any surface, from any part of the court, and during several different types of rallies.

Always on the lookout for a great tennis match.

Yeah Pete got a lot of critism for his backhand, but i have a feeling he almost wanted it to be a little weak. I say this because he would get into a cross court backhand rally with someone and actually wait for them to attack his backhand and go down the line to his favorite running forehand. It was really a devistating shot.

Exactly Sampras' forehand on the run has been the best on the run forehand these past few decades. However, Roger's forehand is a lot more versatile and affords him different winning tactics with that wing. Sampras's proved to be consistent all career long, Rogers has been shaky at times these past two seasons and it's yet to be seen, so one has to wait and see after their careers are over who had the better forehand. I for the moment give the slight edge to Roger, but my gut feeling keeps telling me Sampras's had the consistency.

During Pete's slump his forehand became every inconsistent. He made unforced errors all the time. This is because he hit it so flat and his timing had to be perfect. So when his confedence went south it was all over the place. I have a feeling this will happen less with Roger because he uses more spin and therefor have more control. We have seen in 2008 that Roger did start making errors on his forehand when his confidence was down. Its nervewrecking to watch because its normally such a reliable shot. Im still surprised though at how many people thinks Roger have the better forehand. I mean Pete could definitely hit that shot harder, all be it with more risk.
