Re: January schedule of the Top 20

Federer was struggling with injuries and general exhaustion for the end of this season, and now he starts 2009 with 4 straight tournaments, of which two are exhos.
Probably by Indian Wells he´ll already be complaining about the schedule...

Yep, I don't understand it, either. Imagine he plays the finals in Doha and at the Aussie Open...This will be tough tennis for 5 weeks in a row.

Haas on his way back

I have yet to see whether he will show up at all of them.
But well, he's got 6 weeks to get over his back problem, he's said that it's not too much to worry about... I guess he and his team knows what they are doing. I'd rather see him skipp those $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$-exho's, though.

Are we actually finding a way to like Djokovic? No Exhos and he's going to the tournament with the harder draw in preparation for AO.

I know sheesh. Nonetheless if he does decide he must at least comply with one of the exho events it would be Abu Dhabi, since he already has a residenc in Dubai. Doha is nearby so that would make sense. Why two exhibition tournies? Well he's been doing kooyong for the past 4-5yrs. He better choose wisely, in my opionion Doha would be a great tuneup for the Aussie Open.

Re: January schedule of the Top 20

Looks like Doha managed to splash out the cash this year. Either that or Abu Dhabi's event just made it more convenient for all of them.

Unusually weak line-up at Kooyong, plus it wouldn't surprise me if Federer withdraws. Although the Doha final is on Saturday so I suppose he could make a Wednesday start. He'll probably play one or two matches and then pull out.

The craziest schedule award goes to Blake. Three exhibitions in three completely different time zones.

Harder draw...with Nadal, Federer, Murray and Roddick playing Doha?

Perhaps Roddick is skipping Kooyong because he's playing Abu Dhabi and Doha?

Yup. Take a quick look at the respective cut-offs. Much deeper.

Edit: My point wasn't that it's a harder draw, but rather the fact that he chose the tournament which would be the best preparation for AO, irrespective of the draw.
