After Saturday's doubles, in which he was the weak Korean link, Woong Sung Jun put in another disappointing performance against De Bakker. Jun said that the pressure of playing for his country in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas got to him. “My mind was just completely gone,” he said. “This is definitely not the level I can play at. I just couldn't handle the pressure.”
The 22-year-old was surprised at captain Kim's player selection. If it had been up to him, he would not have not played the doubles rubber. “Im is the better, more experienced doubles player,” Jun said, head bowed. “So that's my excuse for my poor performance. I'd rather have played on Friday against Huta Galung, I know him and I know how he plays. De Bakker I did not know. But the captain decided differently – I don't understand why.”
That's a very good one indeed, especially when you know how much of a Mental Mug De Bakker usually is himself.
