Haas Underachiever???

Im a Tommy Haas and im fed up with his performances!! Just a question for people am I expecting to much is his current ranking of 26 reflect his ability??? I think he should be around 10-15!! So does he not have the talent??? Or am I justified in being dissapointed??

Re: Haas Underachiever???

I think he's been underachieving for a while... Not sure why. But he has every shot in the book. Mentally, he's not the best, but I'm surprised he hasn't found a coach that pushed him into the top-3 at some point in hs career (I know he was #2, but I mean like... top-3 year in and year out).

What is it with Germans? Kiefer is another man in need of a "right" coach. He could be top-5 too with his talent.

Re: Haas Underachiever???

Tommy has a ton of talent, as evidenced by the success he had at the beginning of the year. Once again, it seems he's been struck by a freak/injury illness just when he was getting on a roll. If he doesn't get back into a groove at Wimbledon, perhaps he'll pick it up during the US Summer. He has done well here in the past.

I hope so anyway, he's one of my favorite players.

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.

Re: Haas Underachiever???

Well, his health has been a problem. He's retired three times this year. It's not the only problem, but it is definitely a big one.

Re: Haas Underachiever???

The current 8, 9 & 10 lineup is probably the least talented in the past decade.
With that said, Haas has more talent in his pinky than Robredo, Ancic and Gaudio combined.

yeh your right he should have!! Had a huge chance at the AO 2002 when leading Safin in the SF 2 sets to 1! A player of his talet should have won a slam. Or at the very least made It to the last 8 more than three times.

I remember Haas won 4-titles in 2001, including a TMS [last one in Germany], also he beat Sampras in the final of Long Island & he was close to taking a 2-set-to-love lead over Hewitt in their 4th Rd at the USO. As you mentioned the very next Slam was AO 2002 & if he had finishe of Safin he probably would have beaten Johansson in the final. Also in 2002 he got to the final of the Rome TMS on clay...so that`s when his form peaked. Now that Federer & Nadal are such dominant No.1 & 2. respectively it`s hard for any of the other players to sneak a Slam win. Hewitt, Roddick, Safin & Agassi would need a semi-miracle to win another Slam, so if they can`t do it I doubt Haas can, anymore.

Re: Haas Underachiever???

I think supertommyhaas if all you can do is post threads knocking Tommy you should ask for a name change. Tommy was #2 in the world at one point but he also injuried his right shoulder which required I believe two surgeries. He was off the tour for a long while. In fact some people thought he would never even make it back on the Tour. He is a right-handed player so of course he is not going to be able to be the player he once was with that medical history. I'm just glad he is able to play on the Tour again. And he has already won two Tournaments this year which is more than a lot of players on the Tour have done so far.

Re: Haas Underachiever???

I agree with the above. Tommy's just really had a string of awful luck throughout his career. He's been hurt numerous times, plus he took a lot of time off after that bad accident his parents got in. The tennis gods just don't seem to smile on him.

Re: Haas Under or over achieve?

I think most players would kill someone for that palmares.
But Haas is one of the most gifter but most mentally weak player on tour so I think he did a great job.
