USO R2: Nalbandian def Golubev (6-2, 6-4, 6-2)

Mighty Nalby on third round
Next up: Monfils or Korolev. A rough test

Anybody could see the match?

Yeah, Nalbandian was solid as hell, pretty good all over.

If he keeps this form, he'll be very tough to beat.

Very well played Nalbi!

Nalbandian looking good. If he plays to his potential, I'd favour him against Nadal. He's too good for him on hard on the rare occasion he plays well for an entire match.

Although scoreline looks comfortable I wasn't impressed with what I saw. Golubev didn't played well so perhaps Nalbandian played only as good as it was required for a win. Apart from a little bit of improvement on the 1st serve he plays exactly the same as in the last period, plus he was too passive in the middle part of the match relaying on mistakes from Golubev. From now on gets tough as it gets.

I really don't understand, how people become so quickly excited about Nalby's chances. I was already surprised after reading the posts after his R1 match. I mean, who has he beaten so far? Daniel and Golubev. Two challenger level players. It's hardly an indicator for his chances vs tougher opposition, IMO

For example, in this year's Franch Open he destroyed Berlocq and then lost to Chardy. Let the guy play some tougher opposition before jumping to conclusions

whats good for him is that he surely wasnt drained mentally by these matches.

walk in the park for him, disposing of players like these

I don't think that Nalbandian will manage to keep the good form but nice to see him finally win matches he normally should.

LOL I feel like he just sleeps the first part of the season away and wakes up sometime in the end

I agree. Nalbandian always has the potential to put together a good run and get big wins but beating Daniel and Golubev in straights is no good indication that he is about to do it.

Champions deserve whatever they win playing within the laws of the game
