Re: So who clinches the US Open Series?

Rafa has the tie-breaker but he will also play a small tournament on Clay on the eve of the U.S. open which gives him an extra 1 point. Also don't underestimate Roddick. He is upset that he slept awkwardly and missed the opportunity to beat Murray in the semis. He will win all these 3rd tier tournament and might make it past the top 2 guys.

Re: So who clinches the US Open Series?

Is he seriously playing a "small clay tournament" b/f the open? Which tournament? Wow, that's insane. Toronto, Cincy, Beijing, and then he is squeezing in some clay tourney b/f the USO?? C'mon Rafa, be smart!

If I lose the first set, the match will be complicate, no?

My favorite Federer and Nadal quotes following their 2008 Wimbledon final:

“But right now, it’s not much of a how do you say? a feel-good thing.”
-Roger Federer
"In the last game, I didn't see nothing. The true, I wasn't see nothing, no?"
-Rafael Nadal

Thanks cyrusking. I would never thought they will play after Olympics, considering jet lag etc. Its ok if Andy or Rafa lost in early rounds in the olympics so they could easily go back to the US.

Re: So who clinches the US Open Series?

Well. I think the U.S. Open series this year is just a joke. Actually it always is. Why not just have 3 Big tournament before the open and let that decide who wins extra one mil. It's not like Sam Querry or whoever wins these smaller tournaments has a chance to compete for that extra mil. Also, people who go to Olympics basically have no chance of winning the series unless they reach the final or win the two masters series. It's crazy!

i am not buying that. what small clay event is the Clay Monster playing on the eve of the U.S. Open?

as for the u.s open series, who gives a damn. Nadal doesnt need the money. he has $20 mill (career) in prize money already and over 6 times that in endorsements. he is worth about $120-$130 million already and the corporate sponsors are lined up from here to china to sign him up. Wimbledon title was huge for him.

I think I heard there was one he was going to participate in. But he has the tie-breaker so it shouldn't matter anyway. I am not sure who can catch him. Just out curiousity, can someone like lose the first round at the Olympics and then go compete at one of these smaller tournaments? I don't think you need to hang around for the whole time

Re: So who clinches the US Open Series?

Tie-Break Procedures: The following tie-break procedures will be used in the event of any tie(s) for the first, second and/or third place finishers.

In the event of a 2-way tie (for either first place and second place, or second place and third place, or third place and fourth place), then a-e below shall be applied, in order, until the tie is broken:

a. Head-to-head record in Olympus US Open Series matches (in the current year)
b. Greatest number of Olympus US Open Series matches won (in the current year)
c. Greatest number of Olympus US Open Series sets won (in the current year)
d. Greatest number of Olympus US Open Series games won (in the current year)
e. If a tie still exists after applying the above, the tie shall be broken by a coin toss

In the event of a 3-way tie, then b-e above shall be applied, in order, until the tie is broken and the first place finisher is determined. The remaining 2-way tie shall be broken by applying a-e above, in order, until the tie is broken.

Re: So who clinches the US Open Series?

Wtf, Rafa is not stupid enough to play a clay event between the Olympics and the USO come on now

As for Andy, he's not going to the Olympics at all, and he's not even serving or hitting normal forehands right now so there's no way he's gonna come back and win the USO Series that's for sure

Re: So who clinches the US Open Series?

The only tournament between the Olympics and the USO is New Haven and that's HC.

Roddick is in deeeeeeeeeeeeep shit. he is dropping in rankings like rock. just hit #9. at this rate, he could get some of tough players early on at the Open. lower rankings would diminish his chances at the Open in my estimation.

he needs a coach fast. Killer Cahill may be of some help in some sort of advisory capacity. i would also consider Tony Roche.

now with respect to open series and Roddick, he could win this upcoming tournament.

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.

Re: So who clinches the US Open Series?

Only Roddick or Haas could possibly overtake Rafa at the race. But they have pretty much to win 2 tournaments to do so. And the remaining are LA, Washington and New Haven. Not too hard if you ask me as nobody from the top guns would show there because of the Olympics and looming US Open.

Re: So who clinches the US Open Series?

Looks like Rafa will be the winner of the Series this year as it's unlikely his and Andy's 145 points will be overhauled, and on the tiebreaker, Rafa's win over Andy in Toronto seals it.
