How many titles will Rafa win in 2008 after Cincy this year?

Well, if you want to discuss, I think that talk this topic is better than say what "When will Nadal win next tournaments", and I will put a vote that is as title, and Mods please don't merge my post this time!! I have a vote, and that's better than other topic's vote options !!

I want to say first, I will define title included Olympics, US Open, Master Series Paris and Madrid, Tennis Master Cup is the last, and doesn't count Davis Cup as titles !! I will only count this 5 tournaments, so the most is 5 titles for Rafa !!

I would say 2. Olympics or the US Open + 1 AMS.

He doesn't have to win anything more this season , it's been an incredible ride so far. I think he can win Madrid or Paris.

olympics and madrid

he doesnt need to win any more title to be year end no.1, as long as he can reach SF in most tournament, including USO.....

Re: How many titles will Rafa win in 2008 after Cincy this year?

I think that people forget several basic statistics about Nadal and start talking too much BS. Let's see, because it's plain and simple:

Clay/Grass Season, Nadal best surfaces: absolute dominance from Nadal, winning all the tournaments, 2 GS + 2 AMS + Barcelona + Queens, winning streak, etc, etc, all that we already know.

Hard Season, Nadal worst surface by far (especially summer HC season): well, what do we have here? The fact is that Nadal is the best player (tied with Murray) during this part of the season, he is who has gained more points being his worst surface and being tired. He has achieved a W and a SF. On the other hand we have Djokovic (the utter GOAT of this sport) who has achieved QF and F in his best surface (that's what I call to dominate the surface, superb domination, isn't it?)

During the 2008 season Nadal's results have been 7 titles, 2 finals, 2 S/F an his "worst" result, the Q/F in Dubai.

What I am trying to say? I'm saying that in this forums people think (or want to believe) that Nadal isn't gonna win more titles this year because of his loss in S/F in his worst tournament of the whole year, after 32-winning-streak in 3 surfaces, 5 consecutive titles, the number #1 spot after 158 weeks of #2, the RG-Wimbly back to back and his dominance in the whole 2008 season that is reflected in the nearly 400 points over the second in the ATP race.

Nadal is gonna win, at least, 2 more tournaments, and will reach S/F in the others without too much touble.

PS: Nadal is the best player of 2008 by far, even if he decides to rest from now til' the AO 2009 (just an example, obviously)

You're just stating the utter obvious but it's doomed to fall on deaf ears in this place.

Re: How many titles will Rafa win in 2008 after Cincy this year?

I've been thinking he'd win AMS Madrid for quite a while now, and I stick to that. I think he might be playing Bangkok as an optional too so perhaps that, otherwise I don't see him winning else this year, nor do I care. He's already achieved above and beyond all I could possibly have hoped for this year, and will rightfully end the year #1 almost regardless of his results in the next few months.

14.

he will target the U.S. Open and the Masters Cup. he has taken everything else away from Fed so why not take away these 2 titles too and leave Fed with nothing.

wasnt it Fed who said that "#2 or #3 dont matter" and that "its the #1 rank that matters"?

well he (Fed) will now have to live with the fact that he doesnt matter.
