Is Davydenko the most clean ball-striker of ATP?

This is what one Serbian comentator said during Kiefer-Simon SF. True or not? I was somewhat baffled on hearing it!

You could make an argument for it. He does hit the ball very clean. Generally seems to hit the sweet spot most of the time.

Federer and Nadal miss hits the ball more than Davydenko.

I actually quoted "one of the cleanest ball striker on tour" on Davydenko's Wikipedia page.

does the use of the prince racquet help in any way?

i thought he uses an oversize racquet, increasing the chances of hitting the sweet spot

Re: Is Davydenko the most clean ball-striker of ATP?

I would agree.
Definetly cleaner than Fedmug.

Rafzilla hits very cleanly too...considering the amount of topspin he gives all the time he could hit loads of misshits, but he doesn't.

Nadal is the cleanest ball striker.

Nadal, Davydenko, and a healthy Nalbandian are currently the best on tour.

Re: Is Davydenko the most clean ball-striker of ATP?

He does hit very clean, yes. But the reason why Fed and Nadal, for example, make more errors is not because they are somehow "worse" players, it´s just that they hit the ball with so much more spin. The racquet meets the ball at a very different angle (their racquet head is less open) so in reality the optimal sweetspot is a lot smaller for Rafa and Fed. This results in more misshits and errors, but it also gives them the versatility that Davydenko just doesn´t have.
So you can´t really compare them. Hitting the ball cleanly is just one side of the story.

All your posts are full of such deep insight and tennis knowledge. They always help expand our horizons. Davydenko is baldy blonde guy with amazing shots. He played Nadal four times, you must have seen him.
