Montañes vs. Berlocq the highlight of Wimbledon Round 1

Undoubtedly the highlight of the 1st round at Wimbledon, every other match is just a cheap and tawdry sideshow to the excellence of grass court execution that will be on offer at Wimbledon between Montañes and Berlocq.

The questions are which court will it be on? Who will win this match and this will be founding base of the new grasscourt revolution.

Montañes has been hanging with King Oscar, so he might get some tips.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

probably court no 17 or 18. it will be slugfest for sure. I think organizers should give a free entry to this match.

Re: Montañes and Berlocq the highlight of Wimbledon Round 1

No doubt that the match will be held at Calais, just because the organizers would not be so selfish as to create huge strains on the Eurostar train system for the masses of spectators from the entire continent, rushing in to watch this match live.

It is very hard to predict the outcome, rotten draw to have two contenters meet so early but for sure grass tennis will be revolutionized and the quality of net points will be breathtaking. This match is a close second to the confrontation between the King and PHM.

Wonderful exhibition of old age grass tennis from the 90s promised here as two tournament favourites draw each other earlier than they should have.

Re: Montañes and Berlocq the highlight of Wimbledon Round 1

Berlocq did beat Ferrero on grass and Montañes with the improved serve, this will bring the masses back to tennis.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Re: Montañes and Berlocq the highlight of Wimbledon Round 1

the Spanish draws are just unreal

then you see the likes of Ancic/Llodra and Mahut/Tursunov playing each other in rnd 1

throw in Ferrer and Verdasco reaching finals this week and you can clearly see the Spanish tennis Mafia is rampant in the ATP right now

Only the Carlsen and Srichaphan classic in Barcelona rivals this.

The spectators lucky enough to watch this enthralling spectacle live will be the real winners. I might drop in on it when I'm there.

That`s a shame that such great players face each other not in final.

Mardy Fish!

Brian Baker - Steve Johnson - Lleyton Hewitt - Carlos Berlocq - Tommy Haas - Ivo Karlovic - Richard Gasquet - Kevin Anderson - David Ferrer - Michael Russell - Fabio Fognini - Dustin Brown - Somdev Devvarman

Re: Montañes vs. Berlocq - THE ULTIMATE GRASS ENCOUNTER

Great pool.

I was just about to make the pool myself, then I see this.

I think Montanes should clinch it...and you will see me having a picnic near the net. Anybody join me? There will be plenty of space on the both sides of net

For me, the question is whether Berlocq will take this match any more seriously than his R1 in the 2006 Championships.

Berlocq is the less bad player on grass, remember he beat Ferrero so he should have the edge.

This thread would be funny if it wasnt the billionth time two clay mugs or grass mugs meet on that surface and MTF expels their sarcastic wisdom

Ginepri-Fish on clay, what an awesome matchup of acute tennis minds, the angles created would prove Pythagorean's theorem null and void :retard:

OMG, Tusunov-Berdych on clay, its just like Karparov vs. Kasparov etc. etc.

Give it a rest people, its been done
