Eaton :wors hip:

Brilliant win for him and great to see him qualify for the main draw and he deserves this success after working so hard this year without quite getting the reward.

Never faced a BP today and went to deuce on his serve once, so excellent serving from him.

And to beat Patience who's 500 places above is a great win.

Hope he draws one of those 'deserving' WC's now and thrashes them to stick it to the LTA and the AELTC

He's got a massive serve and is an out and out serve/volleyer, so the courts at Roehampton are perfect for him

Why we still produce out and out serve-volleyers is beyond me.

Pretty as it may be, and purists may love it, but it doesn't bring consistent success on the tour in this day and age.

Well done to Chris for qualifying though - superb effort.

He'll be the next Murray/Henman now. Well done to him and hope he can win a round or two next week.

Shit.
Terrible loss for Olivier anyway you look at it. Sure these courts must suit Eaton's game perfectly, but based on his (nonexistent)results, his serve can't be that big, and if it is the rest of his game must blow for him to be doing so poorly in futures.

Looking at his previous results there is only one explanation for this match.... Patience decided use a golf club on the return of serve

Its good for him considering his ranking. Very impressive Patience is a decnt scalp for the kid he's done well. Hope he gets a seed and gets to play on a show-court.

Other mugs Marray and Bloomfield couldnt do anything im soo glad all england didnt waste WCs on them.

Go Andy!

Indeed. The fact that only one of our guys qualified and only one other made the final round of qualifying (men and women) more than justifies not giving them MD wildcards, IMO.

With all respect to them and their efforts, if they can't win 2 matches in qualifying and make the final round of quallies, it's probably no good at all to throw them into the main draw either.

Don't forget that not only did Eaton beat Patience #162, but also Jan Minar #206 and Kukushkin #140!

Obviously grass suits him, but maybe it is just time for him to start breaking through - I hope so, anyway.

It is. Eaton just outplayed Patience, who never even got close to breaking. If Eaton can keep up the standard he's been playing this week he should be able to win a mtch against anyone outside the top 60.
