One for resident mathematicians

What has to happen before Wimbledon for Novak to become #2 seed there, according to their seeding formula (if it's at all possible, of course)?

Re: One for resident mathematicians

With Nadal being a two times in a row Wimby finalist, no way he is going to be dropped from the Top 2 in the seedings.

Re: One for resident mathematicians

My answer was going to be "Nadal dies.", but I think the point has already been driven home.

EDIT: I don't wish that, either. It was just the only way I could imagine Novak being the 2 seed.

Re: One for resident mathematicians

Either Federer or Nadal not to be in the draw. If both of them are not in the draw Djokovic will be the #1 seed.

Re: One for resident mathematicians

Before Wimbledon: Nadal losing first round, Djokovic winning title?? Nadal has to defend a QF at the Queen's Club.
At Wimbledon: Nadal losing first/2/3/4th round/Djokovic reaching final.

Re: One for resident mathematicians

It can't happen before Wimbledon.

Rafa is 350 points ahead with the Queen's points off, and Queens only offers 225 points to the winner.

Re: One for resident mathematicians

In the Wimbledon-adjusted points, Nadal is 1012 points ahead of Djokovic, as Judio's rankings thread makes clear

Damn you, Farenhajt.

I love maths and was hoping you were giving us a great challenge.

I'm so disappointed.
