Guillermo Coria's Projection = Lost to Levy 3-6 2-6 in Bangkok R1

After his impressive 4-set loss to Tommy Robredo, and having only few PR left, the big question mark opens..

Will Guillermo Coria ever go back to Top 100?

What do you think about his game?

I've seen his last 2 matches, only his Robredo defeat complete, and his game looks ok. His backhand is becoming solid again, he reached some really amazing and impressive angles, and his double faults are becoming more and more something of the past, but I still see a long way up to the top

Im not so sure someone like guille will play lots of challengers considering his past pedigree and his big ego (let's face it...) and im not that sure many tournaments will give him wild cards

So, the question mark is open

Will Guille ever go back to top 100? what are his chances of becoming a circuit player again? Will he finally give up and call it a career after all his PR are used?

Let's keep this also as a progression tracker of how well/bad he does in the next months..

I still have faith in guille, i think he will have some terrible losses but i believe he can put a couple of big upsets, but that's only on my shiny days.. Am I daydreaming? Or will "El Mago" be back by next year's Roland Garros?

Re: Guillermo Coria's Projection

Coria is done, finished, kaput!

He would be triple bageled by Nadal, Federer or The Joke.

Maybe by Federer on Wimbledon, but on clay (especially) there's absolutely no way Nadal would even come close to "destroying" him, before Nadal, Coria was the great clay courter around.

Djokovic wouldn't even take him in 3 sets, experience over talent.

You are talking like if THIS Coria were the same that lost to Nadal in 5 sets some years ago.

TODAY Nadal would easily crush him. Ok probably not triple bageled. one bagel and two breadsticks

The Joke would crush him easily on any surface, perhaps on clay Coria could manage to win some games more, but that's it.

Coria is history.

You'll see Coria come back, it's not like I'm a delusional fanboy of Coria or that I hate Nadal/Djokovic, I just don't see Coria being crushed by any of them.
Who knows, let's hope he starts coming back to the main tourny's more and more.

Re: Guillermo Coria's Projection

I hope he makes it back. Not because I like him, but I'm going through the same struggles as him, albeit at your run-of-the-mill club level of competition. Can serve reasonably well in practice, but when it comes to a match... Never been the same in any sport since suffering chronic knee injuries.

Re: Guillermo Coria's Projection

back to the point: will he win some matches this season? im not talking about beating nadal, federer or djokovic.. that's another thing..

Im talking about beating regular players.. (top 50s?)

do you think he will put his game together to go back and win some matches and find some form before 2009 RG?

Re: Guillermo Coria's Projection

I think he is playing better now,he played a really decent match against Robredo, and his game is still there and in my opinion the problem is the serve. When he fixes the problems with the serve i think he will be able to do very well again, but just with a normal serve he will be able to regain confidence and get motivation to play his best again...

Re: Guillermo Coria's Projection

He will come back, at least Top 50 level, for sure.
However, I have doubts about him going over that level... that depends only on him. It's a matter of time.
