Interesting stat on the Bryan Brothers

An interesting stat about the Bryan brothers from the new Bud Collins History of Tennis book as I watch them on The Tennis Channel. The Bryans hold the all-time record in tennis as the doubles team to lose the most major doubles finals. The Bryans have lost 7 finals - 2 Aussie, 2 French, 2 Wimby, 1 US. In second place is Daniel Nestor and Mark Knowles with 6 final-round losses - 2Aussie, 2 French, 1 Wimby, 1 US. In third place with 5 losses is Stan Smith and Bob Lutz, Henri Cochet and Jacques Brugnon, Don Candy and Merv Rose and John Alexander and Phil Dent.

Re: Interesting stat on the Bryan Brothers

Is there a comparison, in terms of percentage of finals won, or number of finals played? It does look horrible, but then I wonder how much better they've done than the other teams.

Good thread, the title is exciting looking for the pro-Bryans, and the content is great for those against them. Win-win.

THe twins won 5 GS-titles together. So their record in GS-Finals is 5-7.

They are both tools.

Re: Interesting stat on the Bryan Brothers

meh, at least they're getting to GS finals.

What are the rules for how GS doubles finals are played, by the way? Do the super-tiebreaks rear their ugly heads in the championship matches also?
