RG R3: Gonzo comeback stuns Wawrinka 5-7, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4

Wawrinka had 3-0 in the third before Gonzo stormed back. Sad for Stan but it was a great match.

Congrats Gonzo!

F. Gonzalez def. S. Wawrinka 5-7 2-6 6-4 6-4 6-4

What a magnificent comeback by Fena
He was down 5-7 2-6 0-3 and after that he was just unstoppable. Really nice to see him fighting so hard and great to see him in a 2nd week of a grand slam again after that AO final last year. Ginepri next, should be a win, but Ginepri seems really unpredictable so we'll just have to wait and see what happens. Good luck Fena

Wow...

Shame for Wawrinka... He needs to win matches like these. Bravo to Gonzalez for the comeback.

Stan...

What a comeback by Gonzo . Did Stan drop his level, or did Gonzo suddenly up his level after those first two sets?

You have to think that, as a top player, Stan must learn not to give up lead of 2 sets to love and a break up in the third. Amazingly, it is the first time he blew a two set lead before. Gonzalez found a way to manage to keep the rallies going, slicing his backhand to death and drawing errors from Stan who got frustrated after a few shots, or just eventually forcing to go to the forehand which was certain death for Wawrinka.

Not the best match quality wise, but entertaining stuff nonetheless.

I support: Roger Federer; Richard Gasquet; Radek Stepanek; Mario Ancic; Robin Haase; because they are cool.

I also support: The Killers; Death Cab for Cutie; My Chemical Romance; The Smashing Pumpkins; Radiohead; because they are pretty cool, as well.

"It is cruel, you know, that music should be so beautiful. It has the beauty of loneliness of pain: of strength and freedom. The beauty of disappointment and never-satisfied love. The cruel beauty of nature and everlasting beauty of monotony." - Benjamin Britten.

From the little bit they showed on my screen I would say Gonzo found his rhythm. And when he is on- get out of the way
