Lightbulb Compact colour-coded RG draw - updated in post 1

Here's something I've been using on a fan board: a draw format for the computer age, using colour to condense the information and make a whole tournament viewable at a glance:

Roland Garros 2008

qualifiers *:WC Andy & most-likely opponents
Thru to: R1 R2 R3 R4 QF SF F W

1 Federer vs Querrey / Montanes vs Vliegen // Crivoi vs Marrero / Ancic vs 31 Seppi
20 Karlovic vs Falla / Benneteau vs Spadea // Zverev vs Capdeville / Soderling vs 13 Monaco

9 Wawrinka vs Kohlschreiber / Cilic vs Haase // Andujar vs Volandri / Cuevas vs 24 Gonzalez
27 Andreev vs Starace / Young vs Ginepri // Sela vs Hanescu / Serra vs Giraldo

4 Davydenko vs Johansson / Lisnard vs Safin // Junqueira vs Mannarino* / Prodon* vs 28 Ljubicic
23 Ferrero vs Daniel / Melzer vs Luczak // Monfils vs Clement / Jenkins vs Horna

12 Robredo vs Coria / Troicki vs Gicquel // Huta Galung vs Vanek // Simon vs 21 Stepanek
25 Hewitt vs Mahut / Calleri vs Fish // Santoro vs Korolev / Darcis vs 5 Ferrer

-----------------------

7 Blake vs Schuettler / Greul vs Gulbis // Ascione vs Reynolds / Lapentti vs 32 Tipsarevic
17 Baghdatis vs Bolelli / Ouanna vs Del Potro // Llodra vs Patience* / Smeets* vs 11 Berdych

16 Moya vs Schwank / Granollers vs Berrer // Hernandez vs Minar / Kuerten* vs 18 Mathieu
29 Canas vs Odesnik* / Bjorkman vs Lee // Dancevic vs Lopez Jaen / Gremelmayr vs 3 Djokovic

6 Nalbandian vs Berlocq / Chardy* vs Gil // Garcia-Lopez vs Roitman / Brands vs 30 Tursunov
19 Almagro vs Pashanski / Decoud vs O Rochus // Hrbaty vs Acasuso / Eysseric* vs 10 Murray

15 Youzhny vs Becker / M Gonzalez vs Karanusic // Isner vs Chela / Ventura vs 22 Verdasco
26 Nieminen vs M Lopez / Vassallo Arguello vs F Lopez // Guccione vs Devilder / Bellucci vs 2 Nadal

This gets on one screen what, on the Roland Garros site, occupies 11 web-pages and forces the user to do page-jumps hunting for information. An example of formats from the monochrome past which have not been adapted to exploit the freedoms of the computer age - and of the greater efficiencies which are possible.

Interesting and useful, thanks

"I asked a bloke in the front row if he liked the serve-and-volley stuff," said Rafter. "He said he did but asked if he was going to get to see any rallies. 'Not today, mate,' I told him."

Nice schema, very helpful in its efficacy!

Very nice, it really works to get a full overview a few seconds!

Could you do updates for RG?

1 remark: it works best to use the most distinctive colours for the last rounds. f.e. red would work better for QF than the blue in my opinion 'cause it's so eye-catching. (and yes I tested this against a white background too )

Very nice idea, good job!

Truly speaking I prefer traditional draw It's 5x easier for reading than these colours. But thanks for the effort.

Lilly - that was the idea; thought it was something useful. Posted originally in the RG forum, in the Main Draw thread - but some mod killed my posts repeatedly, which I couldn't quite believe. Killed threads too, there and in this forum. Can't really maintain a resource in the face of a mod vendetta; not sure what I'll do. Would love to hear an explanation from the mod; presumably there was some reason.

Forum has been technically a bit moody today and yesterday for most people: loading very slow, posts appearing in wrong order... I think they're having some bugs or serverproblems. A post with some advanced editing, colours and such might be the first victim - not necessarily a mod vendetta (I hope).
