Message to fans of both Federer and Roddick

Even though Roddick had lost his match to Federer, I'm still satisfied with the match. After all my messages that said that I thought Roddick would win, the fact is that I only wanted Roddick to win, and the first step to winning is believing, so I was only try to believe that he would win. I wouldn't have put my money on it, it is just a way for me to believe that he will win.

To all Federer fans: I'm sorry for what you may consider my "outragous" posts about the match, especially Fedex. There should be no reason that we should have to dislike each other just because we like different tennis players. Congratulations on your player's win and another Wimbledon title, I tip my hat off to you all! Federer is an excellant player, and I'll look forward to watching other matches that feature your world's #1 player (Not just Roddick vs. Federer matches).

To all Roddick fans: You should also be satisfied with the match. At least he won a set off the world's #1 player and he had some opportunities to win the match. Let's forget about the rain delays (or at least try not to blame it on them because both players have to go through the rain delays). Roddick was up a break, 4-2 in the 3rd set, Federer's serve. After Federer made it 4-3, Roddick had a chance to hold serve and his break, however he got broken, which of course forced the tiebreak, which he lost (A chance he could have taken advantage of.) Also, Andy was on serve in the 2nd set, serving to force a tiebreak. However, he couldn't take advantage of it, and got broken, giving Federer the set. I personally think (I don't know about you) that this was the turning point of the match because Roddick was up 1-0 in sets. Had he forced and won the tiebreak, he would've been up 2-0 in sets, and that would've made it very hard for Federer to come back. However instead it was 1-1, and then from the point when Federer broke Roddick in the 3rd set, he continued to roll and made it difficult for Andy to break Federer.
Because he had quite a few chances to win the match, I think that Roddick now has confidence that he can beat Federer in the future, since he won a set, and as mentioned above, had some chances to win the match that he couldn't take advantage of. So let's hope he can win some matches in the future against Federer to create a "rivalry" and not just calling the two of the "nemesises". Maybe next year Roddick will win Wimbledon. Hey, he still has his U.S. Open title to defend, remember?

Well, it was an exciting match to watch for a while, and I hope both fans are satisfied with the result. These are two exciting players to watch in the coming years.

~J.J.

P.S. I hope people look at this post so that they can see how much courage I have to admit that I made a mistake, and do the same. The solution is to not post "insane" posts.

Re: Message to fans of both Federer and Roddick

I dont know what you said, that you have to 'apologize' for, but I am never paying attention to what's going on around here--I am sure it is very melodramatic anyway

whatever, it is a pity if you type all that and nobody can respond--so cheers for a public apology, that does take putting aside pride, but it's just the internet though, who cares, loL!

and yes, faith is good! I believed Andy could have won, and he really could have. I hate to see people blame things on rain delays and whatnot myself--Andy's slipping away was his own folly, oh well-- to the future

With each passing season, I discover new reason
SAMPRAS --> Rios --> KUERTEN --> Kafelnikov -->
Federer --> Hewitt --> RODDICK --> GONZALEZ -->
NALBANDIAN --> Benneteau --> Davydenko --> Mathieu -->
TURSUNOV --> Mantilla --> KIEFER --> NADAL -->
Karlovic --> Odesnik --> Stepanek --> Monfils -->
??

That was good post, but I am not sure about your chances of less "insane" posts, there are some right headcases here.

Re: Message to fans of both Federer and Roddick

I'm not sure which post you're apologizing for, but kudos for your nice comments (re: both players & their fans). I like both Roddick & Federer (though I'm probably more partial to Federer's game). I very much enjoyed Sunday's final. High quality tennis from both players and very suspenseful. This is what all Grand Slam finals should be like. Hope to see Roddick & Federer battle many more times.

I scanned your posts and you really don't have to apologize for being a cheerleader for Roddick. There was nothing obnoxious of what you posted.

Re: Message to fans of both Federer and Roddick

Ok, I was just trying to be fair to Federer fans that thought I was making fun of Federer when I said something in my 1st post.

B.T.W.: Other players that I support (Not in any particular order):
Pete Sampras (Obviously before he retired, and I still wish him the best of luck now)
Andy Roddick (As you know...)
James Blake
Mardy Fish
Robby Ginepri
Vince Spadea
Andre Agassi (Now that Sampras isn't playing...)
Tim Henman
Mark Philippoussis
Lleyton Hewitt
David Nalbandian

In matches against two top players, I usually support the underdog or lower ranked player. Exceptions are if higher ranked player is any of the above.
I probably forgot to list other players, but those are the ones that I remember

WTA Players I Support:
Serena Williams
Venus Williams
Maria Sharapova (Now I do! Congrats on your 1st grand slam title!)
Jennifer Capriati
Lindsay Davenport

True. I like my country's players, but doesn't everybody? Most other players I just don't care about unless I find out that they're really good. Gustavo Kuerten beat Federer, so he must be good, although I really haven't seen him play. (I never heard of him before the French Open.) I would like to see Tim Henman win at least 1 GS. Mark Philippoussis also has a good serve. You have to see my reasoning.

You must be a fairly new tennis fan then if you hadn't heard of Gustavo Kuerten prior to this year's French Open.

And yes is is a good tennis player. He won Roland Garros three times and he finished as the year end number one for one year when he beat Sampras, Agassi and Safin at the year end Masters Cup in Lisbon.

So, I hope you stick around and become a life long fan. There are a lot of "really good" tennis players. Some of them win slams and some don't.

--no. I could care less where a player is from. I only fancy Blake and Davenport from your list. and btw, since you're new here, there's a lot of Andy haters on the forum.
But the fans of Andy really consist of just A) horny girls that are in love with him, and B) americans who just cheer for him cause he's American.

You fit into the latter, i hope

How wrong you are.

I'm a) an American and b)an Andy fan.
However, I am not:
a. a horny girl,
b. in love with him, or
c. just cheering for him because he's an American.

Normally, I don't cheer for Americans unless they are South American.

My last favorite Americans were Courier and Seles (although she wasn't American when I started cheering for her.)

But cheers for another gratuitously insulting post.

Re: Message to fans of both Federer and Roddick

Is that a scientific figure?

I don't think so.

I think that is a figure based on your ideas about Andy and Andy's fans, and not based on any real data.

Actually yes, I'm minoring in statistics and decided to do my project on the types of Andy's fans using a Poisson distribution.

ok no of course its not scientific, but I have seen the Andy fans at tournaments(clay courts, masters, wimbledon) and his fans are mostly type A)s with a few type B)s in there as well
