I think Federer can be the new Sampras with respect to Wimbledon, I don't see how anybody can beat him on grass, other than himself.

about anyone's chances IMO, it's been like this since last year, only that set that Hewitt won and mostly because Federer lost concentration because of the rain.

I tell you, this guy issomething else on grass, when I saw how he dismantled the big servers last year I knew it, he is better than Sampras on grass IMO.

More, he is the most complete player I remember to see in the men's field.

He wins 7 Wimbledon and we'll talk about it ok...

Re: shit

I still think Pete Sampras at his best would edge out Roger Federer at his best on grass. I mean with Pete's style of play, Roger wouldn't be given much opportunity to use his box of trick shots. That's why Tim Henman has a good record against him...

Pete Sampras - no yelling, no bad language, no fooling around, no showmanship, no media obsession, no nonsense. He just let his tennis do the talking. Enough said.

According to a Belgian commentator (I think it was Carl Maes, Kim Clijsters ex-coach) Federer is the best tennis-player ever, talent-wise, even better than Pete Sampras. He only has to back it up with the slams.

Wow...and that's coming from one person's opinion. In Pete vs. Roger discussions, everyone is always only talking about how Federer would be "invincible" if he were to play at his best. Has everyone already forgotten what Pete could be like at his best?

I never had these great feelings when seeing Sampras as I have now with Federer, I really look like this: watching him play.

Of course, 95% of the time Pete just kills the point off as early as possible, so he didn't need to pull off spectacular shots. He'll just rush into the net as early as possible (serving & recieving) and do the job, so either he kills the opponent or the opponent kills him. And mostly it's Pete that kills them. Boring to some people, but hugely effective. And don't forget about the number of consistent aces he is capable of hitting on a grass court, because like Goran, I'm sure they helped. Sort of wipes out the chances of the opponent getting into a rally and pulling off fancy shots don't you think?

What talk about living up to your name, smartass. 2001 was when Sampras was on his way DOWN.

Re: shit

Federer is playing well and has the potential to be one of the greats. But its too early to be comparing him to Sampras, as Roger himself says, thats ridiculous. Roger needs to do so much more for his achievements to be compared.
