Yes, Richard is retired. He is now tournament director of the Rotterdam event.

Re: whatever happened to richard krajicek?

Richard Krajicek is somewhat special...he is the man to divide Pete Sampra's record of consecutive Wimbledon wins, and he is one of the few who has a winning record against Sampras...

But yeah unfortunately due to his continous shoulder pain reoccurrence, he just cannot play anymore. I think the last tournament he played in was the Stella Artois Queens last year, where he was totally hammered by Andre Agassi.

Pete Sampras - no yelling, no bad language, no fooling around, no showmanship, no media obsession, no nonsense. He just let his tennis do the talking. Enough said.

He got a sex change in his shot to win Wimbledon again as a junior girl.

I love Richard. He's another great Dutch player. I've got a soft spot for Dutch players.

Re: whatever happened to richard krajicek?

Yeah, his sister is! She's really good, but only 14 or 15 years old. She one of the best in the rankings under 18 years old.. Hope she does just as well on the real tour (cuz she only played 2 matches at the WTA tour I think)...
As for Richard himself. He lost first round in the Rosmalen tournament last year. At first he didn't wanna comment, but a little later came the official press conference in which he told (he had to read it from a letter he wrote, cuz he was pretty emotional) that that was his last official match. He thought that his body wouldn't let him play tennis anymore. And after that, as some stated before, he became tournament director for the ABN Amro tournament in Rotterdam, which is REALLY good, cuz now we finally get to see the Aussies and maybe someday the Americans too here, cuz of Richards connections . He is also a commentator sometimes in sport shows, he has his Richard Krajicek foundation for charity and I thought I read somewhere that he does a lot of cycling now...

He had a lot of potential, thats for sure. Too bad he got injured and all that. Oh well, best of luck to him in his future.

Re: whatever happened to richard krajicek?

I remember having tears in my eyes while listening to his final press conference. He started by saying that for many years he had to battle against his opponents and his body, but lost the battle against his body

He did GREAT as a tournament director. He got some nice players to Rotterdam and looked very classy and serious as a tournament director and I can't wait to go next year and see who he'll attract then

SINCE THERE'S NO TENNIS ACTION I WENT FOR TONGUE ACTION

Re: whatever happened to richard krajicek?

Krajicek got bored of being the Netherlands' answer to Steve Austin; a malfunctioning bionic man, that is.

He did look marvelous at Rotterdam, and got quite a good line up there. I wish nothing but the best for Richard.
