Ancic def. Minar 6/3,6/4! Rafa up next??

Mario had an easy win against in-form Minar who came through the quallies and gave a hard fight against Kolya in Estoril;

Rafa has had no competitive clay-match yet, we will see if Mario can make a big uspet, IMO he has no pressure and if he plays up to his best he could go for a major upset

I sincerely hope Mario can cause an upset - somehow I think it's very unlikely but I will certainly be cheering for him!

Nice one Mario
Next up is Rome Really tough draw, he lost to eventual winner in Miami, now will probably do the same and even worse, because it`s only 2nd round. He is playing like a Top 10 player, but will not get there in a while.

Good win, but shitty draw for him. Anyway he is most dangerous in first couple of rounds, but Rafa on clay is way more than he can chew.

I think Nadal has the worst draw possible with Ancic up first -- very dangerous for him.

Yes Nadal will pretty much feast on numerous expected errors from Mario. I don't think he can sustain rallies of over 15 shots without eventually netting it or going wide, and you can't really hit a winner outright vs. Nadal on clay.

But alot will depend on Nadal's movement...

Rafa could have had an easier opponent yes but let's not kid ourselves, anyone in the world on clay is a favourable match up for him and he should stroll past Mario fairly comfortably.

Indeed the only diffrence for Nadal is against a normal 1st round player(not seeded) Nadal seldom needs more than 15 shots. Nadal might have to work in the 1st round in a claycourt tournament, instead of just camping way behind the baseline and do some lazy moonballing
