Miami R3: Mario Ancic (CRO) def Juan Monaco (ARG) 7-6 4-6 6-1

What a headache this caused me..

Monaco and Ancic both see-sawed in the first set. Ancic served for the set at 5*-4 but was broken. Ended up taking it to a tiebreak.

In the second, Ancic had a dismal start and Monaco led by two breaks before surrendering one but closed it out on his serve.

In the final set their positions were reversed and Ancic started to serve a bit better. Monaco saved two match points. On the final match point, Ancic finally converted it with an ace

Overall, Monaco managed to dominate a bit better - he pretty much pinned Ancic to the back of the court most of the time but tended to get flustered easily by dubious calls.

The second set wasn't necessary, Mario. I don't know what happend to him. But he was fighting, after 0:4 and BP Monaco he came back to 4:5, but Pico won this set.

Finally a great win for him and good Luck against Davydenko!

I think the crucial point in this match was at *5:3 for Monaco in the tie-break. Ancic played extremely tough cross-court passing-shot from a position in which he normally loses the points - Monaco dived but he isn't Boris Becker

Congrats to Ancic but he needs to be more efficient and less nervous when he is playing big points.

Mario

Stop taking so long to win your matches.

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.
