Not a big deal beating Monfils, but anyway
The draw is opened for him

any win for fed, nowdays, is a good one.
well done.
wasn't playing close to his best, but good enough to win without any special difficulty against the talented gael.

I blame YOU! Damm SHOELACE!

Re: Federer Def Monfils - 6-3, 6-4

A match of contrasting sets, to say the least.

First set: 3 points lost on serve, 0 breakpoints faced.
Second set: 16 points lost on serve (to Monfils' 10), 7 breakpoints faced, including a 0-40 deficit.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Well, Gael had his chances thats a good sign. Hopefully he can take advantage next time. And in his next tourney maybe he can get a favorable draw for once.

Tim Henman--Gael Monfils--James Blake--Donald Young--Rafael Nadal--Jo-Wilfried Tsonga--John Isner--Janko Tipsarevic--Richard Gasquet.

Fed's been fairly shit at saving break points lately so this is a good IMO. Keep it going.

Fed played well I thought, especially on those BP he faced. Gael as well.

Well done Rogelio. Make that final now, I'd like to see you play Rafa again, it's been quite a long time I daresay.

Re: Federer Def Monfils - 6-3, 6-4

Fed deliberately tanked all those points to face BP down scenarios for the clay season...

Re: Federer Def Monfils - 6-3, 6-4

The usual :retard: service game from Roger once he got a comfortable lead. I'll refrain from using the smashing smiley since he played well to save all of them and took both BPs on Monfils serve.
Not incredible tennis but he played pretty well for a set and a half
