Federer and Andy, how far can they go...

Its been looking very good for Federer. Not only has he been showing ungodly form, but he is the only player to not have to play back to back matches. Plus he actually had two days off in a row. I don't think he will have any trouble until he gets to Hewitt.

Poor Andy, has to play a third match in a row. And against of all people Taylor Dent. Dent when he is on, is unstoppable. He is in my personal opinion, better than Henman at Serving and Volleying when his Serve percentage is high. Dent plays his volleys with more angle and deeper. Roddick better not let his service games get broken, because Dent will be incredibly hard to break on grass. This match will probably have at least 2 tie breaks. If Andy didn't have to play so many matches back to back I would think he could win in 3 sets, but now I predict this match to go either way in 5 tough sets. If andy gets through this one, he will cruise until the Semis. Then he will be tested by Phillopoussus. Yes I said it. I don't think Henman will win Wimbledon ever. I also don't think he has much of a chance against Mark Poo.

Why poor Andy? he'll have to play 3 matches in a row, but so have a lot of people. He's fit enough to play 3 matches in a row, or even more. Both players can go all the way, or they can stink up their matches and lose tomorrow.

If it's a Fed/Roddick Slam final, then it will be another three set non-starter.

I wish. I severely doubt it.

Come on Henman, spoil the party! If Federer gets past Johansson he'll have a tough match either way against Lopez or Karlovic. I don't care how talented he is, he ain't breaking either of them very often on grass, especially Karlovic.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

I am actually hoping for a Federer-Henman final. I think it would prove more interesting than a Federer-Roddick final anyway.

Yeah that's the final I'd most like as well. I think it has the makings of a much better final than a Federer/Roddick encounter.

Q. You must have so many different emotions going through your head. Was it like a rollercoaster for you?
STANISLAS WAWRINKA: Yeah, yeah, it's quite crazy..I never expect to win a Grand Slam.
I never dream about that because for me, I was not good enough to beat those guy.

Maybe the sky will fall?

Atleast it wont be a battle of big serves, if Federer and Henman play like it would be if Fed/Andy play. It will be a battle of risky play/Net approaches, and finesse. They imo have the best 2 grass court games.

Well, thats what were going to see if Federer and Roddick play in the final! I think Federer and Henman has the potiental to be a 4 or even a 5 set final.

What an obvious statement you just made. I was waiting for that one. And I think even if it's Tim/Fed, it's gonna be a straight sets win. just my opinion.

I agree with you, I just guess I'd like Henman actually in a final for a change, I'm tired of all these semis losses you see, and much as I love Roddick and want to see him do well, he has many more years in which to win Wimbledon, whilst Tim is reaching his twilight , so to speak. Therefore I'm just hoping for more than a straight sets win, I'm trying to have more faith in Henman at the moment. I'll see more clearly when it isn't so late, and will stop with the rambling because this is probably making little sense now. Even I'm confused about what the point of this message was, I think it's got a bit lost now.

Re: Federer and Andy, how far can they go...

it would be very, uh, 'pretty' if Henman made the final, a 'fairytale' ending...

call me a scrooge, but so-- Mauresmo and the French, Henman and Wimbly, i feel like people put so much pressure on them to win just because they are the Great Hope of their nation and that's part of the reason they never do, like they're given this assignment to win these tournaments, just because, they've been led to believe they have to or something

With each passing season, I discover new reason
SAMPRAS --> Rios --> KUERTEN --> Kafelnikov -->
Federer --> Hewitt --> RODDICK --> GONZALEZ -->
NALBANDIAN --> Benneteau --> Davydenko --> Mathieu -->
TURSUNOV --> Mantilla --> KIEFER --> NADAL -->
Karlovic --> Odesnik --> Stepanek --> Monfils -->
??
