true, but the so called big 4 (including nadal there) pretty much get to at least the QF (usually SF) of every slam. in that mix there are also dangerous top 10 players like del potro, tsonga or berdych who can give a big challenge to any of the big 4 in the QF. this is usually the case in every GS.

Even murray, the player who arguably has had the easiest way to a GS in years, needed to take out federer in the SF and now will have to dispute the title against djokovic. that's as "easy" as it might get for a top 4 with a "half decent draw".

I think Federer needs to improve fitness, he is still very very competitive against the top 4.

Re: The Federer Decline Thread

No one who saw Federer-Murray SF would write off Federer.

Sub-par Federer took peak Murray to 5 sets despite being completely outplayed. He fought like a lion.

More fight then this 4 set collapse to the joker today.

What so that SF is indication that Federer isn't declining?

He needs Ferrer in his half of the draw.

Federer should be working on his fitness 24/7. It's very vital to his game now, especially on these slow courts.

You think he spends all his time watching TV with Mirka or something? Im sure he works hard on his fitness like everyone else but,

1. He is old
2. He doesnt have an Egg

Re: The Federer Decline Thread

Federer is declining rapidly mainly in 3 things:
1 - His Return of Second Serve.
2 - His Return of First Serve.
3 - His Return of whatever dafak it is Serve.

Now I'm not saying he doesn't work on his fitness, but it's clear to see he doesn't give it as much priority.

His legs shouldn't be giving in after only 4 hours on court in a SF on a slam. It's not like he was involved in a 6 hours battle the day before. If he wants to win slams on these slow courts he will need to improve his fitness. I still think there's room for improvement in that department despite his old age in tennis terms.

Re: The Federer Decline Thread

That semi against murray was really painful to watch. Not in my wildest dreams would i have thought that one day fed would struggle like that against murrays (formidable) pushing. I never quite noticed a dramatic decline until that match which was a real eye opener. To his fans who are clinging on to the fact that he fought valiantly t take it to five sets i would say stop fooling yourselves because the only reason this match wasn't over in three was due to Murray's clowning. I can imagine him thinking he has nothing to lose and every win is a bonus at this point but i sincerely hope he doesnt make a habit of losing like that and retires before he tarnishes his legacy any further. He is a great competitor but his fans all over the world arent ready to see him losing ugly.

Damn, I wish we had the fast courts. Rog always tears it up on the fast courts. Sick of Djokovic finals. Bring back the carpet.
