Oh well, I guess when you're a Marat fan, you have to always be prepared for results like this once in a while, but still
COngrats to Dmitri, though This is a great win. Why is he your favorite since Roma ??? Did you sleep with him ?

Glad I wasn't putting much into Safin's chances here. Did he tank that tiebreak (1-7) Well, looking forward to the hardcourt season, his blisters healing properly and getting back into the top 10.

Looks like a upset day anyway, first with Dementieva, now Safin

I really hate this early all-Russian encounter........
Only one can go through to the next round..........

Congrats, Dmitry!!!

lets see if Marat will comment on the fact that Dmitri was "lucky" in his press conference and if he comments on his blisters (does he still have those )

Marat doesn't need any excuses like that, he just needs one excuse and that's his head

IMO, he has beside Federer and Coria the most complete game, but he's too often a headcase to do so well like Federer/Coria etc. do.

Marat

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy

I know it's his head that's the problem, but he always seems to use the word "lucky" when he loses matches (and sometimes when he wins)

My German guys are like the cast of the Wizard of Oz:

Rainer = Lion
Kiwi = Scarecrow
Tommy = Tin Man
Flo = Dorothy

...but I still love 'em

I think Tursunov does have that effect on people. I like him too now after getting to have a little interaction with him at IW. He's a very nice guy and he's had to get through some tough times early in his career. I don't know that he will ever be a top player, but I'm glad to see him have a good result.

SHAME ON YOU MARAT!
I think he had one of those tiny rain clouds over his head the whole match, the one that losers have...

EDITED: yeah like I realy mean that!

Anastasia Myskina, Marat Safin thank you.

I think Marat has many more natural gifts than Coria.

Marat !
His 4th set tiebreak was absolutely awful, he didn't seem to care losing all the points ... and the only point he won was a DF by Tursunov...

Guga Kuerten

Roger Federer & Novak Djokovic
