Thumbs up Michael Llodra (FRA) outguns Coria 6-3 6-4 for his 1st singles career title!!!

I'm very happy for Llodra that he got his 1st singles career title now because it was very obvious that the Frenchman has lifted his (singles) game a lot.

I think he is also a very smart and smooth player if you see him moving on the court!

He made his 1st singles final in Adelaide at the beginning of this year and now he got his first singles title in just his 2nd singles career final.

Congrats to him!!!

Also appreciation to Coria for this great run on grass and a final!
He showed that his is willing to perform well on every surface! Good achievement!

Carlos --- C'MON Lleyton!!! --- Kiwi!!! --- Jürgen --- Juan

Best of luck to all Germans : Nicolas Kiefer | Rainer Schüttler | Lars | Florian | Tommy

It was a great final, between 2 WC-players!

Guillermo Coria | David Nalbandian | Juan Martin del Potro

Tomas Berdych | Marcos Baghdatis | Gilles Muller | Novak Djokovic | Janko Tipsarevic | Nicolas Kiefer | Dudi Sela | Richard Gasquet

@@ Congrats to Llodra~ nice job proving he's much more than a Doubles player!!

Coria seems to be a bit of a choker in Finals~ especially this year he's had a disappointing record:
Buenos Aires = Won, Miami-TMS = Lost, MC-TMS = Won, Hamburg-TMS = Lost, French Open = Lost, Rosmalen = Lost...>_<

* So Coria is 2/4 in Finals in 04 & losing 3-in-a-row won't help his confidence!

First title in single for Micka, that's great !!!!!!!!!!!

I wish him the best for Wimbledon

yes, but concerning Coria, you have to consider that this final today was not on clay or on hardcourt, but on grass, a surface where he never had much success so far, and so he should see this final appearance already as a BIG ACHIEVEMENT. I think it makes a difference if Coria loses a final on clay or on grass and I'm sure he can deal with this loss as the final on grass is already a success whereas he is almost doomed to win a final on clay because he is (usually) the big favorite there.

Well done Llodra and keep on the improvement. Congrats to Coria, it was a surprise that he made a grass final, but now he has made finals on all surfaces except indoor hard, but that will come in the future.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

I am surprised that you aren't criticising me for being anti-French.
Anyway, I see that Coria will make a final on indoor hard, but Paris is carpet actually and he has already done that in Basle, so don't worry.

I think RG might be considered a choke. I don't know for sure though. But in Miami, Guille had kidney stones and had to retire. I don't think that can count as a choke. In Hamburg, he played Federer in the final. Federer is someone who can beat any player on any surface, so I don't think that can be called a choke. As for Rosmalen, he played on grass and the day before he played two singles matches. I'll reserve judgement on this question, maybe you are right, but maybe not.

Anyway, I'm happy for Guille that he showed up and was brave about playing on grass and had some good results.

Re: Michael Llodra (FRA) outguns Coria 6-3 6-4 for his 1st singles career title!!!

it's not fair to call Coria a choker. he was outfoxed by Gaudio who dragged out the game to five sets knowing that Coria would run out of steam. Against Verkerk the year before, he was simply dominated by the big server and was flat had run out of steam after he got thru beating Agassi. his problem is fitness IMO. he has too strong a will to win and too high a level of self-confidence to ever be a choker IMO.

congrats to LLodra AND Coria. to sexy LLodra for winning his first title, and to Coria for showing the world that he is NOT just a dirtballer.

Q. When you've played as few matches as you have over the last two, three months, did you ever lack motivation to go out and practice?

ANDY RODDICK: Motivation? No. I enjoy what I do. I enjoy what I do. You know, I've never been one to, you know, blow off practice or, you know, do anything like that.

You know, I'd be lying if I said I'm looking forward to practicing the next two days as opposed to playing here. That part is gonna suck...(2010 Aegon Championships)

Re: Michael Llodra (FRA) outguns Coria 6-3 6-4 for his 1st singles career title!!!

Llodra's Leconte-inspired style is great to watch and he did a good job of imposing himself upon Coria early in both sets, and even when he lost the break in the second he did well to stay level and break again at 4-4. After the Hantuchova/Johansson chokes yesterday I was expecting something similar, but he served out very convincingly to love. I was surprised that Coria had made the final in a tournament that has as many poor bounces as the Rosmalen court does, and that showed today, he was complaining about the state of the court most of the time instead of focusing on the job. Even so, he made some good forays to the net and Llodra won the match by putting the pressure on at the right moments, rather than Coria losing it.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.
