Re: Nalbandian Withdraws...why?

so many withdrawals and absenses and people in bad conditions... aie yi, get better all players!!!

With each passing season, I discover new reason
SAMPRAS --> Rios --> KUERTEN --> Kafelnikov -->
Federer --> Hewitt --> RODDICK --> GONZALEZ -->
NALBANDIAN --> Benneteau --> Davydenko --> Mathieu -->
TURSUNOV --> Mantilla --> KIEFER --> NADAL -->
Karlovic --> Odesnik --> Stepanek --> Monfils -->
??

Re: Nalbandian Withdraws...why?

actually, it's a sad news. But I like him not taking any risk to play. That's a good idea.

Re: Nalbandian Withdraws...why?

yes its good that he is not going to play, that would give to much risks and could make the injury worse.. but still this is the second big injury this year.. no good at all..

Re: Nalbandian Withdraws...why?

How did a rib injury progress to an abdominal tear? He needs full rest now. Those two injuries are too serious to risk anything with right now.

Re: Nalbandian Withdraws...why?

Nalbandian out of Wimbledon

Fourth seed David Nalbandian will miss Wimbledon because of an abdominal muscle tear.
Nalbandian was forced to retire after just five games of an exhibition match against Chilean Nicolas Massu at Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire on Friday.

The Argentine - a Wimbledon finalist in 2002 - was scheduled to face Croatian Mario Ancic in the first round.

Nalbandian was a potential quarter-final opponent for British number one Tim Henman.

Peru's Luis Horna replaces Nalbandian in the draw.

Ok. Now I'm confused. Rosie and Sigmagirl have been telling all of us that Nalbandian has a dreadful rib injury, and now you are saying it is a torn abdominal muscle.

Re: Nalbandian Withdraws...why?

it's the rib injury, more serious than the torn abdominal muscle, much painful and can't breathe well

The original injury occured when David was serving in the 3rd set of his match against Guga at Roland Garros. It was a torn intercostal muscle (in the rib area), and he was in such agony he could hardly move in the next few days, including the semi-final against Gaudio (remember the 0-6 set?). Originally he was told there was no way he would be fit for Wimbledon, but he wanted to play so much he decided to come over to England to the exhibition and just try a few practice games on grass to see how the muscle would feel. Unfortunately it was still painful, and by trying to serve slightly differently to rest the original injury, he has now damaged a stomach muscle as well - this is an old injury that kept him out for a month last year so obviously he has a weakness in that area. Hope that helps.
