Who will be Wimbledon semi-finallists?
Who do you think will reach the Wimbledon semis now the draw has been made?
Safin v Mirnyi
Nalbandian/Phillippoussis v Roddick
If Roger Federer turns up 100% focused then he would surely not be beaten. However I'm not convinced he's got it sorted out mentally and the pressure of being firm favourite and No.1 seed will get to him.
The second quarter of the draw is the most interesting because any one of half-a-dozen players could carve it up - even Coria given that he beat Beck easily this week who had beaten Henman the week before. Arthurs, Bjorkman, Fish could all take a run. If you want to think the draw has favoured anyone then surely it would be Grosjean, he must have a great chance of a second consecutive semi.
I'd love to see Ferrero do well given that even though grass is not his surface he doesn't whinge and moan about it but gets on and plays. (Grass is only one month a year. I think it's great the game is played on all different surfaces. The great players should be able to cope with them all). Given his injury and lack of matchplay he's unlikely to do well. I'm plumping for Mirnyi because he has the game for grass and the talent which he hasn't really fulfilled yet.
Ivanisivec hadn't any form at all in 2001 and unfortunately for Henman once Phillippoussis feels the Wimbledon turf beneath his feet he'll be a different person. If Nalbandian is 100% fit then he should make the semi (and what a grudge match that would be) but nobody seems to know much about his injury which is why I can't decide between him and Scud at the minute.
The two players whom I really, really don't want to win are Roddick and Hewitt (yawn, yawn) but looking at the draw there's nobody at all in the last quarter to bother Roddick reaching the semis.
