DC CZE 3 BEL 0: Berdych/Stepanek def. Vliegen/Rochus 6-7, 7-6, 7-5, 5-7, 6-4

What a match or what a scoreline I should say. The Czechs had 40-0 on serve down 5-6 in the fourth before the Belgians won 5 straight points to take it to a fifth. Two dead rubbers tomorrow now.

Any Czech want comment on the poker play by the Czech coach? I mean if they had won the doubles Belgium would have had a realistic chance to win the tie with a rested Darcis and a tired Berdych/Stepanek.

Darcis was never going to beat Berdych

Normally I would agree, but not in the circumstances of him being tired with all the pressure on...

The MAGIC DUO Stepanek-Berdych def. Rochus/Vliegen 6:7 7:6 7:5 5:7 6:4 to "3:0"

Another great doubles match by Radek/Tomas, being down set and break with Rochus serving for second set! Berdych with slow start, making many net-errors...the same old story like against Swizzz.

GREAT MATCH GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!

I too was surprised by Navratil's decision, but it worked in the end.

I think he was lucky -- it was just taking a stupid risk for no good reason at all. If Belgium had taken the fifth set all the pressure would be on the Czechs. A rested Berdych would have been a certainty tomorrow.

Come on you are being over the top here slightly. It didn't effect them when they made the WG against the Swiss. Yes, the same team was used in the same way and it worked.

Berdych was not likely to lose and he is quite fit and Stepanek over Rochus.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

You may be right, we never no with Berdych, but the chances of him and Radek losing tommorow were slim.

I think the Czechs should have just played their doubles team and still won

Moot point, the Czechs are in the QFs.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

He consulted it with all 4 players yesterday evening and this morning, so I understand it was a consensus of the whole team. Plus it's been already mentioned that it worked the same way against Switzerland.

I agree. The Czech coach gives the impression there are only 2 good Czech tennis players while they also have excellent doubles players. Let's hope he gives at least one of them the chance to play a match tomorrow.
