Ranking points for the olympics?

I came across this list randomly today :

Champion - 350 points
Silver medalist - 245
Bronze medalist - 175
4th place - 135
Quarterfinalist - 90
3rd round - 48
2nd round - 28
1st round - 1

Is this true?
It seems kind of silly to award points that players cant defend, did they do this in 2004?

If this is true it will help Massu out when he wins double golds again.

I don't see a problem with having the Olympics there but yes I do agree, points is a waste of time seeing as you can't defend them.

Maybe the points last for 4 years? This would be silly as well though.

I'm pretty sure they get taken off after 52 weeks. Yeah lasting for four years would be stupid.

Re: Ranking points for the olympics?

on the other hand there are only two players of a country who actually get points at olympics. The others don't even get a chance to compete at the Olympic Games. And I can imagine the players don't even think of the points once they are there as the athmosphere there is really unique.

Vamos Nando! Come on Andy! A portuguese Vamos to André Sá e Marcelo Melo! Vamos Gastão!Auf geht's Dustin! Vamos ChristianLindell!Vamos David! Pojd Tomáš! Davai Dolgo!

I think the cutoff is four players, not two.
