Nieminen back in the Army

Short video clip of Nieminen in the army, having good time in shooting range after spending night in the woods. That camo facepaint makes him look a very credible warrior

http://www.yle.fi/urheilu/tennis/id96367.html

Everything in Finnish, I'll summarize Jarkko's comments:

-he is quite happy with his shooting results

-change from sunny Oz to snowy Finland is quite big, but he is already well familiar with the routine and fellow servicemen (who are mostly athletes too).

-he thinks Army is actually good for his game, as eating, thinking and generally doing nothing but tennis 10 out of 12 months every year is quite mentally taxing and it's nice to get something else to think [note: duh, you don't have to think in the Army]. He notes that this was the best January of his career.

-next tournament is Marseilles

-his army stint will end in March.

Re: Nieminen back in the Army

He needs to spend a fair amount of time there judging by his recent 2nd serves

The face paint!!! From the video, it doesn't look like they had to work too hard...but it's the first time I've seen soldiers having to disguise themselves as snow and trees..

It's good for him and he is enjoying it and his fitness should improve, too bad the 2nd serve hasn't.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Räikkönen and Heikki Kovalainen have both served their conscription.
