Tsonga....most lovable player on tour?

He is such a gentleman he has never done anything to upset or offend anyone.

No-one has a bad thing to say about him, which isn't true of 99.9% of ATP players.

i think he will be like the Kim Clijsters of the ATP.... Except he wont get pregnant and retire at the age of 24

Go Andy!

So very very proud to be a fan of Mr Andy Murray Wimbledon Champion 2013

Double Grand slam champion. Olympic Gold Medalist. Holder of 9 Masters 1000 events # legend

Re: Tsonga....most lovable player on tour?

he's certainly one of them. i don't think the fact that nobody has a bad thing to say about him has anything to do with his behaviours up to now but it's rather due to his non-existence until this week, to be honest.

he's a good guy, no doubt, and the best thing is that he's real.

Re: Tsonga....most lovable player on tour?

I'm sure if he continues to play like this, and becomes more and more successful, he will collect his own little band of haters here on MTF - it's a sad fact of life here Having said that - I agree he seems like a great guy, well behaved on and of court, personable, good-looking and a great player - what is there to hate?

Hardly anything has been printed about the guy. It's a bit premature to say that he's the most lovable player on tour.

Re: Tsonga....most lovable player on tour?

Lovable player, indeed. Watching him the whole tournament was pure joy.

Rosie- in response to what you said about the "hate." It never makes sense, nor is there ever a reason for it. People who are unhappy or threatened by someone's spirit, health, good fortune, or vitality, will always spew negativity as an equalizer.

Whether a tennis player, or anyone else, it's wrong, and it speaks volumes about the person who GIVES the hate, rather than he who RECEIVES it.

Tsonga is a sweetheart. That smile alone...

I love his smile too He has a kind of warmth and charisma about him, which I hope will not get lost or "buried" along the way on his tennis journey.

If he had won the tournament there would be like 15 threads of hate...but thats usual on this board. Every winner gets hate, and loser gets sympathy!

Wise words again, Kelli...

As for Tsonga, he surely seems to be a very likeable player. Well-mannered, friendly, and with a smile to die for!

And here we go again... You turn the discussion to Djokovic, even though this thread has nothing to do with him.

OK....I'm curious. How on earth can you keep writing stuff like that when you have no problem hating players yourself?

Grazie, Karin.

With great results comes some negative stuff- we have seen that many times over, no?

I'm looking forward to more of that mega-watt smile in 2008!

Come on, find something you can criticize him for... go on

To come back to the subject his comeback from very serious injuries seem to have made him very down to earth and joyful character... very charismatic player, I hope he does not change too much (and that he takes an English teacher but that's an usual French issue)
