Will Tsonga Qualify For Shanghai?

Yes, it is early but do you think Tsonga's Australian Open run is a flash in the pan or that he would take a lot of confidence from the tournament and go on to be a very consistent player in the Masters Series and Grand Slams this year and potentially qualify for Shanghai?

Re: Will Tsonga Qualify For Shanghai?

I think he can do well during the grass and Hard court season. I think there is a rule that says any Grand Slam winner or Finalist who finishes in the top 20 gets a Masters Cup Spot, though I am not sure about that. Probably as an alternate like Philippoussis in 2003. I think he will fare better during this year's Grass and Hardcourt season due to this confidence booster and improved fitness.

Not only will he qualify but he will win it without dropping a point.

If Tsonga wins tomorrow , is he qualified for Shangai ? Isn't there a rule that says that every grand slam champion , even if he does not finish in top 8 , is qualified for shangai ?

Tsonga will be qualified by the end of the weekend.

On Nadal bumping him on the changeover, Rosol said: "It's ok, he wanted to take my concentration; I knew he would try something".

Wilander on Dimitrov - "He has mind set on imitating Federer and yes it looks good. But he has no idea what to do on the court".

Machado wins 6-2 6-1

The rule used to be that the 8th TMC spot is reserved for either the 8th person in the Champions Race, or a Grand Slam champion outside of the top 7 but within the top 20. I'm not sure if it's changed now to allow all Grand Slam champions to automatically qualify or not.

No. One tournament doesn't count for the whole year, sorry.

I think it's the period of the dumbest threads flooded most since I resigstered this forum.

This makes my Gasquet threads seem like works of art.

Probably not, but it isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

Re: Will Tsonga Qualify For Shanghai?

Too early to say.

Bagdahtis didnt when he reached the Australian Open in 2006, but Gonzalez did last year.

I think there is the potential there; it just depends on how the next few tournaments go.
