Roddick became a complete mug now. Has to be him.

Re: 2012 MTF Mug of the Month: Tons of mugs to choose from for February

Querrey: 2-3, including a straight sets loss to Alex Kuznetsov in a challenger.
Verdasco: 1-2, just another muggy month for him.
Roddick: 1-2 this month, but probably the most embarrassing. Injured, though.
Bogomolov: 1-5, if I were making the odds, Bogo would be the betting favorite.
Dimitrov: 0-2, including horrible loss to D. Young in Memphis.
Simon: 2-3, being destroyed in South America.

Perhaps the Swiss DC have redeemed themselves, with Roger winning Rotterdam and Wawrinka making SF in Buenos Aires.

IMO.

1. Bogomolov
2. Dimitrov
3. Roddick
4. Verdasco
5. Querrey
6. Simon

Yes, I am biased and I like to see different winners for the awards. Dimitrov already won it July 2011, Verdasco won it for the whole year of 2011, however, there is precedent, since Federer won this award twice in the first 7 months of 2008

Roddick and Bogomolov both play Delray Beach next week and the crown will likely be presented there. Actually, the site of the tournament is about 25 mins. from my house, and I may even award the award personally.

Simon plays Acapulco and can raise his stock for this award. As does Verdasco. Fish plays Dubai and Bellucci play Acapulco, but barring a monumental mug performance, they won't beat out the top contenders.

Dimitrov meanwhile, is smartly not playing a tournament next week.

Re: 2012 MTF Mug of the Month: Tons of mugs to choose from for February

The long awaited Delray Beach Draw has come out.

Roddick and Bogomolov, the 2 front runners for this competitions have tough 1st rounders.

Roddick vs. Petzschner, Andy could easily lose this badly and run away with the title.

Bogomolov vs. Qualifier, If Bogo loses this one, My God. 1-6 on the month

Anxiously awaiting Acapulco Main Draw.

Ljubicic beaten by Cipolla, he deserves an Oscar much more than Dujardin !!
And what to say about Davy, beaten by Chiudinelli....

Re: 2012 MTF Mug of the Month: Tons of mugs to choose from for February

You are all unfair on Roddick. He has sucked, but he has been injured.

I personally think in addition to looking at win/loss records, you should also look at how badly these players have lost (scores?)

For instance, Ljubicic keeps getting straight set losses and they're not even that close like Roddick's 76 75 loss to Malisse.
I think that should play more of a role than simply win/loss records.

And of course moments like Dimitrov's choke should also be considered.

You could argue that any player who is 0-1 this month could be a mug

Gulbis Ferrer Nishikori
Isner Nadal Dimitrov Istomin Wawrinka B. Baker

Berdych Monaco Granollers Leo-Mayer Troicki Roger-Vasselin Lu Paire

PAW Titles: Brisbane 2012 & 2014
FITD Titles: Marseille 2014
Tennis Tipping Titles
Singles: Orleans CH '11, Tampere CH '12, Medellin CH '12, Vancouver CH '15, Opava FUT '15
Doubles: Noumea CH '13 w/ Chirag, Cherbourg CH '14, Yokohama CH '15 w/ BMT360
