Is Agassi ending his career like Kafel?

Kafel played like a tennis-nobody in his last active year of the career. He had many bad loses and it was evident that he doesn't care about tennis.
Agassi doesn't play much and he's playing very bad. Does this mean the same thing as in the Kafelnikov's case?

Anastasia Myskina, Marat Safin thank you.

Probably not. Agassi has too much love for the game to start playing like total shit now...

And just to add something Gil Reyes - who is Andre's conditioning trainer and long time friend - is in negotiations with Coria. Apparently he will become part of Coria's team after the US Open. That means that maybe the US Open could be Andre's last tournament? I dont think so, but it is just a thought.

Akin, no, that's NOT what that could mean. It could mean the end of a partnership, but not the end of Agassi's career.

Once Andre decides to retire, he'll just do it. He won't let it drag on in the way Kafelnikov did, and play a year after he promised to retire.

I am 90% certain he will retire after the USO (or perhaps TMC if he makes it) no matter what he achieves between now & then.
Kafelnikov played in 2003 knowing full well he was out of contention at the slams, Andre wont do that.

Sampras had much love for the game and he played like shit apart from at USO in his last year....

Kafel was great and definitely had love for the game. Don't tell me that money was the sole reason why he played pretty much EVERY week!

Re: Is Agassi ending his career like Kafel?

Agassi will only play another 5 or 6 tournaments I think: Wimbledon; Indianapolis; Toronto; Cincinatti; Washington; Long Island & finally USO *@@*!

-->> I believe the reason he's committed to so many events leading up to USO (3-IS events plus the 2-TMS) is because he's feeling like this is his last great opportunity!! If he wins USO then he retires for sure & if he loses early then he'll probably also quit, however if he comes tantalisingly close again like SF/Final then he may be tempted to keep at it for another attempt!
* Did you see his farewell gestures at this year's AO?? That looked like the signs of someone who's not coming back. Qualifying for TMC won't motivate him anymore..

I think many people will be surprisingly emotional when Andre finally says "..that was my last match". Certainly I feel tennis will be missing something without him>_<.
