Guillermo Coria

You are fabulous kid. You struggled through your pain and never gave up. I am that you lost but you still have the opportunity, you're still young. So Vamos Kid!!! You're still the Magician and I still love ya

Someday, we'll all be free.

Re: Guillermo Coria

If he was Roddick we would have spent the last hour of that match hearing what a terrific fighter is, and blah blah blah and blah. Because when Roddick cramps and still plays it's AMAZING. When Coria does it it's suspicious

Anyways, I was happy for Gaudio, sad for Coria. Coria will be back. The doubters are out in full force now, but whatever. They were with Ferrero too, and look who got the last laugh.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

Re: Guillermo Coria

Rebecca, I totaly agree with you...

GASTON CONGRATS: NOBODY BELIEVED IN YOU (NOT EVEN YOURSELF) AND YOU PULLED IT...USUAL GAUDIO WOULD HAVE THROWN AWAY THE 3RD AND WOULD HAVE BEEN IN TROPHY CEREMONY WHEN CORIA'S CRAMPS STARTED...BUT YOU FIHGTED AND THAT AWARDED YOU YOUR CHANCE....GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!

GUILLE: YOU ARE A FIGHTER, IF YOU WOULD SERVE 150 MPH AND HAVE AN AMERICAN FLAG IN YOUR T-SHIRT...EVERYBODY WOULD BE PRAISING YOUR INCREDIBLE PRIDE....
NEVER MIND...THE ONES WHO APPRECIATE WILL DO IT FOR THEM ALL!!!!!

YOU WILL BE BACK!!!

Re: Guillermo Coria

for Guille. He told us he would stay out on the court and never give up, and today he proved that.

His post match interview was so pure and direct and without excuses. He laid his soul bare in that interview. I admire his courage, his drive, his soul, and his spirit. (to paraphrase Gretel )

i hesitated to respond to this... but how many times has andy even gotten treatment for cramping? you could probably have more from coria in 2004 alone. andy roddick is in much better physical condition than coria can ever be. andy has a much cleaner record in his ability to keep the psychology out of the matches and andy has no reason to fake cramps because he hits through his opponents and plays completely different game than coria.

perhaps a different player you want to talk abt...

Re: Guillermo Coria

Maybe because I listened to the radio, I had a different perspective?

The announcers there were a little confused about what was going on, but they never thought said anything about gamesmanship. They kept thinking Coria would surely retire. They never thought he was able to play full strength again.

Maybe something different was going on with the TV announcers? All I know is that Roddick's name never came up, and it's kind of confusing that it's coming up now. I don't see that there is a divide. As far as I can see here, none of the Roddick fans are Coria haters. I don't get this discussion at all. And I don't understand the bitterness.

Re: Guillermo Coria

poor Coria, honestly, i never am his fans coz i find him a bit arrogant, but he is truly a great clay court king, poor him, so unlucky, always having injuries in final, so sad to lose in this way, winning 2 sets, and despite injuries, still fought to the end, having 2 match points but still lost, poor him

i feel so sorry for him that i want to cry, I sincerely wish Coria will come back again and win it next year

Rafa! Rafa! Rafa!

Epic movies, like brokeback mountain, are seldom found in the industry or worthy for the mainstream viewer. As often as I have watched the clips of this movie, I always find something more to it. For one, the gay stuff doesn't enter the picture for me, only the dimension of the highest love I have ever witnessed in life or on film.

Re: Guillermo Coria

His post-match interview is one of the most honest and poignant interviews I have read by an athlete after a loss. I just know that he will come back and win the FO - and when he does- the win will be all the sweeter because of the cramping circumstances surrounding this one.

Re: Guillermo Coria

I was watching the live match and Guillle was playing incredibly well in the first 2 sets.. I really thought he would have closed the match in straight sets but unfortunately the cramping came..But still, I think he is a fighter to have stayed in the match till the end.. And I am sure he'll bounce back...!! Guille!!

tis not the fault of me that you made a very poor "comparison" (if one could even call it that)
it's surely a different story whenever andy calls an injury timout. he may be the cockiest player on tour, but he doesn't stoop to that level, and if he tried to play with a hand behind his back (faking an injury) he wouldn't beat anyone.

Maybe Roger can win Roland Garros.......
