He would have had less time on court if he'd only played two sets a round, sure. But would it really have made a difference today since his cramps may have been related to anxiety?
Also is any other ATP player having similar problems as a result of playing too much in a Grand Slam? I don't see Federer, Safin or Gaudio having these issues. Safin and Gaudio certainly played a lot more in the AO and RG respectively, than Coria.
Certainly most players are playing too much in general - that's a scheduling problem. You can't blame it on the Grand Slams - they happen only 4 times a year, and players have a day off between each match, which is more than they have at regular tournaments. I don't see any good reason for changing to 3 sets, and I see a lot of good reasons for sticking with 5.
