SUDDENLY a lot of new Gaudio´s fans are appearing, ha?

Im sensing that a lot of new Gaudios fans are appearing now , People who hardly knew his name (after all he is number 44 in the atp ranking)....are shouting Gaduio´s name only beacuse he is against the HATED Coria..........how sad, ha?

I wonder how many real fans of Gaudio are here........and i mean real fans and not people who only shout his name beacuse they want Coria to lose.......

Come on Coria!!!!
Be Roland Garros champion........Im saying this as a fan who knows you and like you long before you reach a final, and has more important reasons to like you than hating your opponent

Thats a great post, i think that is true, many people are going with gaston now that he is in RG final against Coria but after this they will forget of him.

real fans are jinx, guilles girl, jazz, jezz, carito, and many others that supported, supports and will support their favourite player for ever.

This has been discussed elsewhere, and yes there are suddenly new Gaudio fans who have latched on to his success but somehow I doubt ALL of them are rooting for him solely because they want to prevent the dreaded Evil Midget from winning. After all, a lot of them won't have seen him play before because he's never been in the latter rounds of a Slam, with all the new exposure that entails. It will be interesting to see whether the support continues in successive months, although I doubt it's worth my while to cheer for him to go far at Wimbledon. It was put to him in an interview that seeing Henman's run at RG he could achieve the same on grass, and he gave a one-word response. With that career-high ranking he will at last be seeded in the Masters Series, which will prevent some rough early round draws that he's had in the past.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

 Truth be told, I have become more of a fan of Gaudio during this tournament because I have gotten to know more about his history through his interviews, etc. I like his story. He has struggled, both with himself and with sometimes simply getting to the various tournaments. He seems to be one of the players who have really felt the effect of Argentina’s economic woes. So it makes me happy to see a player who has been in the trenches and who has seen more of the less glamorous side of tennis succeed. I was touched at how he sobbed at the end of today’s match because it seemed to be because the struggles were finally panning out. And it would not be true to say that I like Gaudio just as an anti-Coria measure, because I like Coria as well. I tend to a like the Argentinean players as a rule, but I like how they are all pretty unique and therefore I like them all for different reasons. (Although I was a little sad that may favorite Argie, David lost today.)

Yes, Gaudio has a pretty cool history, He has something in the inside that make this final so special for him, coz he have been passing tough times before... I`m sooo happy 4 him, and If he wins Im gonna be happy as well... BUT CORIA ROX, HE IS SOO COOL, AND I WANT HIM TO WIN 1ST, I THINK HE HAS WORKED HIS BUTT SOOOO HARD TO GET WHERE HE IS RIGHT NOW... I CANT STAND THOSE WHO CRITIC HIM...

Guillermo Coria = Wimbledon 2005

thats a great post, but you are one of the few that cheer for gaudio not becuase you are anti-coria but because you are a gaudio fan. I also was touched when gaudio cryed, tennis is a great sport and being in the doors of staying with such an important and historic tournamnet must me great.

He is so nice when he lost. But I dont see him being a great player. So I'm not convinced yet. If there is no buzz around him at age 25, it only goes to show that he is probably not a genius player. I would love to see Coria win this event and becomes #1 right after Wimbledon. He reminded me of Martina Hingis, who though retired still appears in my dreams.

Gaudio is soooooooooooo talented 4 those who dont know him, but he is not consistent, he has low weeks, and sometimes he has an awesome week, He is kind of humble coz He doesnt realize he is a GREAT PLAYER... I hope after RG he changes his mind...

Guillermo Coria = Wimbledon 2005

Much well said guys. Don't blame me for lateness because this is the first tounament that I am able to watch his game on TV. He has great game and as important that he has stuff in his character. So I am making exceptions to tape his semi & final matches for archive (used to be a privilege for Roger).
