For a while

I thought Henman would do what mcenroe, edberg, leconte, sampras, stich and rafter could not.

Did you think that too?

btw

henman leads gaudio 30, 20 on clay all his victories have been in straight sets

I miss: Ivan Lendl, Korda, Novak, Bruguera, Rios, Kucera, Courier, Mantilla, Costa, Santoro and Ferreira.

Good luck to:

Gaudio, Murray, Florian Mayer, Chela, Nalbandian, Radek Stepanek, Volandri, Youzhny and Verdasco.

Re: For a while

Do what?! Win the whole shebang?!

anyway, yeah, when he was up a break 2nd set, I went downstairs to relax and watch The View. Oh well. That's what I like about tennis though. You always want the fairytale ending but just cause you want it really bad and it would be real pretty and all doesnt help jack

With each passing season, I discover new reason
SAMPRAS --> Rios --> KUERTEN --> Kafelnikov -->
Federer --> Hewitt --> RODDICK --> GONZALEZ -->
NALBANDIAN --> Benneteau --> Davydenko --> Mathieu -->
TURSUNOV --> Mantilla --> KIEFER --> NADAL -->
Karlovic --> Odesnik --> Stepanek --> Monfils -->
??

Re: For a while

hmmmm yeah I thought Henman had a chance, Coria gave him a opportunity today but Henman just couldn't take it.

On the flip side the match shows the obvious difference between guys like Mac, Edberg, Rafter & Henman. Henman played brilliantly at times but unlike the champions could only produce it in patches and just doesn't have the champion killer instinct to close out the very key matches (a guy of his experience should not be making double faults + missing routine volleys even in tight situations)

Re: For a while

henman was completely outclassed in the 3rd set... He played so well in the 1st set ! congrats Tim for going so far in RG sticking to the serve&volley tactic!

I suck at TT so there's no reason to brag with my 1st round exits :retard:

Re: For a while

Henman was briilliant and totally fooled everyone who thought he would get his arse smacked....how hard is to maintain a level like that on surface you dont by nature like???

To make it as hard for Coria as he did and especially coming back from 0-3 down 4th set showed some guts.. as tennis world thought it could be a mismatch I think Tim surpassed himself today...

Some people on here hate henman as others hate other players and if Henman won wimbledon they wouldl say the grass quality was fixed or its cos its in England or any other shit they can think up laying in bed.

Great match today and to see ex players in crowd so tense... they know and respect them far more than the morons saying he choked !!!!

And I tell you what ...you got henman on his worst surface against Coria who lives on clay...reverse it to grass and you would never get a match that close and so many twists and turns !!

Nice post, and very true.

Henman really doesn't get enough credit for what he's done. No, he hasn't won a grand slam title, but he's done very well for himself, especially at his home slam where the pressure is greater than any other player on tour today has had to endure.

I lack direction.

Chocking makes me sad.

Re: For a while

To echo what others have already posted, great post, denim! Tim had an impressive run and deserves a great deal of praise. I was enthralled with the way he started the match and I fully expected him to give his all until the last. I just KNEW he would get the match to a fifth set when he got the break in the fourth. But, alas, it was not meant to be. Congratulations to Tim and Guillermo on a very entertaining match.

Whoever thought that Henman was going to get his arse smacked easily doesnt know much about tennis or knows Tim well. Statistics do not count on this kind of matches - the heart does. I was going for Coria but I knew that with Tim was going to be like a final and it was.

On the other hand hating Tim someone who is such a sportsman it is just unbelievable. But to each his own. Congratulations Tim and Guillermo for such an incredible match.
