Joke's Injury

Joke revealed after the match thet he recently had oral surgery and was still on medication. This made it hard for him to move on court and play effectively. If that was the case he should NEVER have played Paris and messed up the draw the way he did. Their are players fighting for Shanghai and it hurt them when a high seed either tanks or gives away points to another player. It's strange how this just came out, but with him you never know.

Re: Joke's Injury

He had two wisdom teeth removed, not foot surgery.

If he was only feeling 30% fit, then he probably shouldn't have played.

WTH is he doing scheduling dental work between two Masters Series events anyway?

I removed my first 2 wisdom teeth and I could go shopping right afterward with no pain killer. When I removed my last wisdom tooth just before Christmas, I was the most miserable person of the world over 2 weeks.

You just never know.

Too much trick or treating with his Batman Costume.

Re: Joke's Injury

It is obvious he should not play in Paris but given the terms of the bonus pool requiring top players to show up it is understandable that he did.

yep - this kind of surgery can have very varying effects. You just don't know how it's going to work out.

But in the end... if Djoko didn't feel up to the job, He. Should. Not. Have. Played!

Or he could respect the integrity of the sport, not collect his bonus (as he has made a fortune this year and should do so in the future) and withdraw in order to prepare for the Masters. Or hold of on getting wisdom teeth pulled or not use as a reason for losing and suck it up.

You knew something had to be up, with him losing like this on a HC.

Santoro has a bad knee. Should he have withdrawn?

I think you are just pissed, because you wanted Djokovic to take out Murray and help Blake. Get over it.

Re: Joke's Injury

Give some credit to Fabrice. It's not like Djerky is unbeatable or something. Yeah he was under the weather, but he can be beaten even otherwise. Fabrice plays tricks with people's games, and so good for him !

Re: Joke's Injury

He should've scheduled the surgery after the season is over. Of course, I'm not sure he has enough sense to do that.

Only those who risk going too far can possibly find out how far you can go.

Re: Joke's Injury

So why did he play?? Stupid decision

Other player could get a seeding and then everything would have changed in the race..

Re: Joke's Injury

It's possible that the wisdom tooth surgery was not scheduled, that something happened to him and it needed to be done right away.

Best twitter posts of the epic match:

@dougrobson - Whoever is supplying Mahut with hair gel needs to ink a sponsorship deal now.

@Wimbledon - FYI, with @Wimbledon live scoring devices, please add 50 to the games in the fifth set of the Isner v Mahut match.

@HolterMedia - Nice to see that a three-day test has come to tennis here @wimbledon.
