Thomas Behrend retires

Thomas Behrend, one of the true legends of the game, will retire next week after the Aachen challenger. I've only found this short notice so far, but it comes from a reliable source. Wonder with whom Kas will team up now?

Anyway, happy retirement Thomas!

Re: Thomas Behrend retires

Behrend was a good player in tight situations.
One of his best wins against Ferrero in Palermo-QF 2005: Ferrero wasted three match points on serve at 5:3 in the second set and 4:0 lead in the third set Behrend had won 6-7(2) 7-6(4) 7-5 and reached first and last semifinal of an ATP tournament.

Brazen hussy!

George will be saddened indeed to see Ugo depart the tour.

The Wit and Wisdom of the Tennis Journalist, Indian Wells 2004

ROGER FEDERER: Yeah, I remember this one time when I went on a vacation on the Maldives. That was in the year 2001, I think. I went to this spa. I went to walk around with my girlfriend. I walk in, and we want to book a spa. This guy goes, "AHH, I remember you. You beat Sampras. I saw you on TV." That was like, really, how can you remember me? This guy has probably never been off his island and still knows me. I was a little bit shocked. Then I went to play tennis with him because he was actually the tennis teacher. It was nice.

Q. Were you naked at the time in the spa?

ROGER FEDERER: No. It was at the front desk. I didn't walk in naked.

Henman, Gimel ... they are dropping away fast

One of Porto Alegre's finest with Glenn Mirnyi

a pity that he never won that elusive doubles title having lost in another final last week in Vienna

happy retirement Tomas!
